What a fabulous way to experience the wilderness of the Rocky Mountains backpacking for 6 days with Troy as our guide, enthusiastic companions, and Rob and Marilyn's warm hospitality. Troy knows the local area like the back of his hand, makes excellent decisions (keeping the group together and even making bushwacking seem relatively easy), and kept us entertained by teaching... The place, the people, the food and the surrounding wilderness all come together in a way I can't compare to anything else I have experienced. When you're away from civilisation and a chef cooks your meals for you, there is nothing that can top that. Everybody that is working there really cares for you, like you are part of the... More

We thought we'd seen the mountains, but not until we came to Cross River and experienced 3 amazing days with our own guide Steve, had we seen them. The flexibility of the hosts was fantastic. The cook ...! Never have we eaten food made with such passion and love. Our cabin was cosy, clean and just great. A splendid stay... More

My husband, Geoff, my son, Issac, and I spent 7 wonderful days at Cross River Wilderness Centre this summer. It was one of the best family vacations we have ever had. The hand painted cabins were very quaint and exceptionally clean. The main lodge was a fabulous place to meet people from all over the world. While we were there... More

Cross Rive Wilderness Centre is the most authentic place we stayed at in B.C. The nature is superb, the chalets are beautiful and very authentic. The main lodge with its hot water tub heated with wood on the terrace is perfectly designed to have a rest on your own or to meet the other guests as you feel like. Everything... More

I read the reviews on this site prior to my recent trip to Cross River and was a little apprehensive that we would not enjoy the real wilderness experience that I and my friends, all experienced trekkers, craved. However ,we had told the operator's what we wanted when we booked and they delivered an experience which exceeded my expectations ten... More

Two trek pals and I signed up for a six day trek through the Kootenays. Gourmet food, small fires in the tipi, evening and morning. Camping, cooking, and bonfires and leaving no trace. Agape at vistas from pass after pass. The cameraderie of testing ourselves and somehow meeting the test while savouring the sub-alpine meadows following animal trails scrawling across... More

My husband and I spent a wonderful three nights at CRWC this August. Cabins were personally theme painted and decorated to perfection by Marylin, the owner - we stayed in the Bird House cabin. Brad Ford, the on-site chef, made absolutely wonderful breakfasts and dinners. We were never around for lunch but Brad-the-Chef personally took us on the Cross River... More

This place seems far from the expensive and crowded options offered in Banff and Jasper, but is actually less then an hour's drive away. It's a bit rustic, but has everything that you might need. Owners are engaging and the food is superb. It really would be best for people who want to do some spectacular hiking in a fabulous... More

My family and I (2 adults, 2 teenagers and 2 liittle ones) had the very best break ever!!! The scenery was breathtaking, the cabins beautiful and very clean, and the food was fantastic! There were trails for every one (hard to easy) and Troy sent us on a walk to the most spectacular waterfalls!. We stopped for 2 nights and... More
