Thie B & B exceeds expectations - the value of the breakfast alone makes it a reasonable price. However, all the little special touches make one feel like a pampered prince or princess. The Inn is centrally located for concerts during Celtic Colors - but, it would be a beautiful stay on it's own. See comments below. More

This place was VERY nice...my boyfriend unfortunately stayed only one night but we were huge fans. We stayed in the Russian room which was very large, it came with an "air tub" and had sliding doors overlooking the pond/lake in the backyard. Ian was very helpful in pointing out some places to stop on the Cabot Trail (our plan for... More

After scouring the Internet looking for that perfect place where a woman from Australia and a man from New York could hold a private wedding for 2, I finally had a short list of Inns and B & B's. Lake Louise BC, St Andrews NB, Manhattan NY and English County Garden located in Cape Breton. When I first talked to... More

We stayed here for the first time in Sept 2011 and we had a very nice experience. Our room (IRIS) was a gorgeous slate blue color and really beautifully done. We had a suite of 3 rooms which was a real treat! We loved the delicious English breakfast served in the morning by Ian who was very friendly and hospitable... More

Nice B&B close to the Cabot Trail. Mosquitoes are bad though. Food is good but dinner tends to be on the pricey side. More

We stayed several nights in July 2011. Ian and Penny are the best hosts we've met in a B&B for a long time. Everyone on Cape Breton is equally warm and friendly. The Russian Room is beautiful and cozy with every amenity that a top hotel would offer -- except that hotel couldn't match the views of the pond and... More

We stayed 3 nights in August 2011 on our honeymoon and can't wait to return! Ian and Penny are excellent hosts, providing us with annotated maps of Cape Breton and a guide to the local artisans. Their suggested itineraries were spot-on. They also have the (relatively rare) gift of knowing when you want to chat and when your coffee hasn't... More

The Russian Room was magnificant (as are all their rooms). We traveled 25 days in Nova Scotia B & B's and this was by far the BEST. They (Penny and Ian) were the perfect and the most thoughtful hosts, everything was impeccable. What wonderful hospitality. You will not find anything that will exceed this wonderful place. More

We loved this place. We stayed in the Conservatory Room which faces the lake. What a bright and lovely spot. We did find the bed a tad soft and my husband missed the shower but other than that we found the surroundings simply surreal, and the breakfasts fantastic. We enjoyed eating our breakfast in the enclosed porch where we could... More
