We stayed here recently and were disappointed. The dorms are overpriced considering what you get. The rooms are vry simple, no lamps on the desks. No phones in the room or in the bulding either. There is a university phone in the front entrance. That is all. And it is in the lobby only. There was a large fridge in... More

Hi Sherri, Thank you so much for your honesty in reviewing our services - we appreciate any and all feedback from our guests. I do hope that there was enough light in your room when you stayed with us. Although there are no lamps in our rooms for guests upon arrival, we do have a supply behind the Front Desk... More

There are two residences available for the tourists in the summer. We stayed at the newer one. This had the disadvantage that only single rooms were available. The rooms were clean, funished with essentials which were comfortable("Spartan luxury"). Apart from a washbasin the services are centrally located. If you are willing to sleep apart from your partner : Highly recommended economic... More

University residences are usually an economical way to stay in a city but I would not recommend Dalhousie. This was the worst stay on our 3 week trip of the Maritimes. It soured our experience of Halifax. Parking was too far away, the room was boiling, construction woke us up, and the room and shower were depressingly prison like. Not... More

My wife and I are sitting here in Howe Hall of Dalhousie University where we booked 2 nights in this dorm. It sounded like a nice way to stay and explore Halifax. Unfortunately the room is HOT! No fans were available, although the young front desk clerk kindly offered the brilliant advice of going to the store and purchasing a... More

We stayed at Dal from July 8th to July 12th, at Howe Hall located on Coburn Road. It is only a short walk to downtown Halifax and is a great location for late-night walks through the neighborhood. There are 2 convenience stores located withing a one-block radius and the city bus (direct line to the sea port) stops in front... More

I recently stayed at Howe Hall, apparently from these reviews, the worst place on the Dal campus. The hallways and rooms are bleak and sparse, but the price reflects that. The staff were very helpful and well informed. The security was good. The toilets and showers were clean, even though the water pressure was poor. The rooms were pretty sound... More

I always love staying in university dorms when travelling in the summer since they're always very reasonable. My stay at Risley hall was no exception. Nice and new looking, everything that could be expected for a reasonable price. Parking was avaliable right outside. The neighbourhood is good. No wifi (although you can go to the library to use a computer), good... More

Risley Hall single dorm room contained a single bed, small desk, washbasin, cupboard and free WiFi. Staff was very friendly, the dorm was quiet and the shower facilities were spotless. The location is somewhat far from Downtown, impersonal and not the place to stay if you want to meet other people. No breakfast available.

I wanted a clean, simple, reasonably priced lodging for l night! After reading all the reviews here on Trip Advisor I decided to find out for myself how bad or how good these dorm rooms could be!!!! Well to my pleasure I found the front desk young staff respectful and helpful (they offered me a fan as I forgot one).... More

Stayed at Dal at the beginning and end of our holiday. The first time we were put up at Risley Hall, which was a very decent experience given the location and price. The second time we were at Howe Hall: a noisy, dingy, frat-house environment. No one slept a wink. Believe the other reviews below - they tell the truth!... More
