We stayed at the Arctic star for 3 nights with Transun we saw the lights on one of the nights. As mentioned by other reviewers we were driven to the sister hotel for our meals as the chef had broken his leg.The food was basic but edible but they did run out of some options as the night went on. The... More

Stopped at the Arctic Star hotel with Transun, the hotel was pretty basic even in the superior rooms. Our radiator did not work but the staff were very quick to bring us a portable one ( which we thought was better) At the introduction at night we were told the chef had broken his leg and so we would be... We have just returned from 4 nights at the Arctic Star, and would hope that this will help with anyone thinking of going. We stayed in a 'Premium' room, which in itself was OK, albeit basic. However, the room was warm, tidy, and a modern walk in shower with PLENTY of hot water. Could have done with more storage as... More

We booked this hotel as part of a Transun northern lights package. The hotel was basic but clean, our room had recently had a lick of paint and new bathroom. The shower was great but the drains gave off a little bit of a funny smell, we got used to it in the end though. Breakfast was nice easy basic... More

What we expected after reading the reviews. 3 of us stayed 4 nights from 17th Feb 2013 in the annex, which had 1 dble and a twin room with furniture, bathroom, living room and kitchen (with no microwave, kettle or utensils) but did take our own kettle, coffee, tea, sugar, soup & snacks, so was prepared. Did take a laptop... More

As with the other reviews the rooms and hotel were very basic but you do have to remember you are in the Arctic circle. We were informed that the hotel is going to be updated during the summer season which is needed as it is a bit outdated. The rooms that have been improved do appear to be very clinical... More

Karesuando is a beautiful spot, unfortunately the Arctic Star was still undergoing modernisation when we stayed. Our room was very basic but clean, unfortunately the ensuite had black condensation mould growing up the walls and the water from the shower leaked into the rest of the room. The kitchen staff were obviously struggling with the meals and the kitchen and... More

We were lucky to have had a week in the 'Dalai Lama' room, he stayed there in 1996. Reasonably comfortable but in need of refurbishment. The holiday for us was made by the enthusiasm of the chef and the Transun holiday reps. The chef was at the end of a long chain of provision supply and the food he provided... More

Just returned from a fabulous 4 night stay with Transun - everything went like clockwork, excursions were excellent. Hotel is basic but clean and very warm. We had a Premier room which was newly refurbished and fine although the hanging space was very limited and high which made it difficult to hang the 'all in one' thermal suit. Taking a... More

More a hostel than a hotel, really. It is warm, the curtains do not fit the windows! No TV, radio, Wi-Fi, The room was clean, the shower good pressure. The beds were not particularly comfortable, but OK. There is nowhere to unpack to - the wardrobe had 5 assorted hangers. No shelves, no drawers, nothing in the room, apart from... More
