1. NEVER I've been in a place like this (and I travel a lot - for Italy: Genova (3 times), Bergamo, Verona, Venecia, Rovena, Rome(3 times), Naples, Capri, Sardegna, Florence, Pisa). I also don't believe there are actually more places like this. 2. I can't believe it is so cheap. I actually have to thank the familiy, because I feel... More

What's not to like about a 1000 year old castle on the far end of a medieval Italian town overlooking the valley below and the Mediterranean Sea in the distance while only about half an hour drive away from the beaches, one hour from Cinque Terre, Pisa and Lucca?! Location was absolutely perfect, hotel staff very friendly and helpful. As... More

We stayed at the castle for one night (way too short!) in September. Upon checking in, the innkeeper handed us our key and said "Here is the key to the castle", which it quite literally was. I believe there was only one other couple staying there, and we had what seemed to be complete access to the entire place. The... More

The setting is magnificent and the rooms are such good value for money that I am surprised that the place is not inundated with bookings. You are sleeping in a castle. You get to roam around the castle when it is closed to the public and you can sit on the top of one of the towers and drink wine... More

Honestly, one step short of amazing. And the only step that keeps it from amazing (has nothing to do with the castle) is, the darn SatNav that is unable to find it. But after comedic conversation with the friendly, lovely and pleasant folks managing the castle, we found it just in time to experience the sunset from the top of... More

The castle itself was amazing and full of historical artifacts. I teach history and it is one of my favorite hobbies...needless to say, I took more pictures inside and outside of this castle than anywhere else on our 11 day trip to Italy. Prior to visiting the castle, I had read some reviews on the site about the friendliness of... More

We stayed for 1 night but would have loved to have stayed for longer. The castle is magnificent and sits in an incredible position. We chose the huge Bifore room with its 2 ornate windows and beautiful views even though it did mean having twin beds (you can squeeze into 1!) The castle is a labyrinth of beautiful vistas and... It's a five-star attraction as a site to experience the history of the region. As a hotel, it's a poor value (100 euros per night off-season) for bare, austere accommodation. Having booked a room for three nights, we checked out after one night. The place is run by a young, well-meaning couple who are in way over their heads as... More

First af all i'm always sorry when people write down bad things on the property and myself, luckily it doesn't happens really often (see all the reviews!! :). Then i would like to reply, just to clarify better the things for all the people that fall in this page. Tripadvisor is a great thing, but sometimes the risk is that... More
