The radiator was on full pelt and the room was like a sauna. No heat control - it was either on or off - so freeze or fry. I had one bedside light but no bulb. My friends in the room to my left had two bedside lamps so gave me a bulb from one of their lamps which didn't... More

We stayed here following a birthday dinner in their private function room. The food was very good as was the service, the staff were very pleasant and eager to please. We had a room at the back which was very quiet and had a very good night's sleep. The room was rather jaded and needs updating and the bathroom needs... More

A horrendous, sleepless night listening to an air trapped heating system shake the accommodation end of the hotel. The night manager was repeatedly called (on my mobile) to try and deal with the situation, every time she just held her hands up stating there was nothing she could do to fix it. When I fed-back my experience I was informed,... More

Stayed at the Royal Oak this week and it was excellent. The staff could not have been more helpful. The food was wonderful and the mains were delivered to the table by the chef!! The room was very comfortable and extremely clean. Excellent place to stay, very friendly and welcoming.

Friendly staff and a nice welcome, but very disappointed with the room. There was only one mirror in the bathroom that you had to bend down to use. No shower, would have been nice to have been advised of this on booking. The room could do with a lick of paint to cover the greasy head marks on the wall... More

We stayed here for three nights midweek, and the junction at the front is noisy, so if you like the window open, ask for a room at the back. Management was happy to move us when we asked. We didn't have a chance to eat in the evening, but the breakfast was very good.

You get what you pay for. We were welcomed walmly when we arrived. Room seemed fine until we realised there was no shower - only a bath. There was no mirror in the bedroom which would have been nice only a small one in the bathroom. Didn't eat dinner there but did eat breakfast. Asked what I would like for... More

We stayed here on Friday & Saturday whilst attending the Hop Farm Festival. The rooms? 10/10. The staff? 10/10. The manager & partner? 11/10. Oh, & the rib eye steak on Friday was perfect.

We enjoyed our stay at the Royal Oak, the rooms were lovely and the breakfast in the morning was nice. However staff upon our arrival were unwelcoming, abrupt and rude. We were going for a concert at the Bedgebury Pinetum. Make sure you book a return taxi before your reservation.

Do not go to this hotel! I sent an e mail and requested a bath and a shower and a room at the back, we were telephoned and told that they had booked those options for us, we were given the opposite, a bath and a room at the front, however, we decided that it would be fine. We sat... More
