Both a friend and I come here when I come to visit him in Newport very nice country pub good drinks expensive but worth it. Lovely staff I don't know why the other reviews are so negative. I will defiantly be visiting again.

Horrible, unfriendly, unprofessional, Disrespectful, unapologetic, unhelpful and most of all OFFENSIVE staff! The list goes on! The food was medioca, I could cook a Sunday dinner in the time it took them to make a cheese sandwhich. Such a waste of a lovely situated country pub, the manager has obviously had no customer satisfaction training, would strongly NOT reccomend this... More

Ouch .....you really did have a bad time, so so sorry. Its hard to discern what went wrong from your report - (and clearly if it was always that bad we wouldn't be open !) - but very obviously you had an awful time, Do please contact me if you can so that we can get to the bottom of... More

This is a grade 2 listed building with all the old creaky, odd and quirky features you hope for in an old inn. Stayed just on night in room14. A huge space will ancient metal work windows comfy beds and a hot clean shower. We attended a 40th birthday party which was wonderful, but here is the thing, in every... More

I held my 40th birthday dinner last night at The Swan and it was fabulous. Right from the start Simon and Lisa were so helpful with planning the occasion and nothing was too much trouble. I had the dinner for 22 in the private Regency room which has beautiful chandeliers and has such a lovely cosy feel, is full of... More

Went for the Sunday carvery. Not the cheapest (or the dearest), but thought we'd have a change. The starter (soup) was fantastic, although the pate on toast that others had was very lacking in toast! The carvery was okay, the meat though was cut so thinly the chef has a talent! The vegetables were alright, although I don't think any... More

I went here whilst visiting my partners Mum who handily lives right down the road. I was so impressed by the interior of the place, it is so unique, with lovely wood flooring, huge fire places and golden picture frames along with the chandelier hanging just off from above the bar. I also love the little extras like old wine... More

This restaurant is our favourite, and try as we may, we cannot find one to equal it, or even come close. It's got the whole package:- the staff are always polite and helpful- the setting is atmospheric (especially in the conservatory) and the food is divine.

I chose from the al a carte menu and had roast cod loin with "creamy mash" and green beans. When it arrived, the cod loin was tiny and the mash was very evidently instant. Not what you expect when you are being charged £12.95 for the plate.

We arranged a party at the Swan at Forton for my Dads 65th using the Christmas menu. The meal was really fantastic. This is the first time a number of us had been to this venue in years as it had started to get a bad reputation however it appears in the last year the management have changed. The food... More
