The landlord says it as it is, you are in Yorkshire. Have been going for 15 years. Always good food especially the steak and ale pie!,,, usually serve Timothy Taylor's landlord at its best. One of the real not plastic Yorkshire pubs

I had heard that this pub is poor but seeing as it was the closest to our holiday cottage, thought we would try it out. Couldn't drink my pint quick enough! The landlord barely acknowledged us and continued with his conversation to another couple (complaining about the lack of business). The decor looked very tired and the food looked uninspiring....

First night in the Dales - too tired to go hunting for a drink and some food so we just popped round the corner to this pub only to find it "closed until 5:30" - a bit odd for a bank holiday Sunday! We returned later to find tables by the fire all taken so we sat in the next...

Don't bother, dreadful place. Looks nice from the outside but mediocre inside and the table was dirty and sticky. The staff are rude to the point of being downright sarcastic. Will definitely avoid and will tell others to as well.
Stopped for lunch during a long walk and were amazed to find a Dales pub that didn't allow dogs - despite the stone floor and plenty of room . Sat outside in the drizzle and had a pint ( good! ) and some sandwiches and chips ( sparse filling and pathetic attempt at salad ) The landlord lived up to...

We noticed...

I am only reviewing the pub / food! as I haven't stayed here.
This pub, going back 10 yrs or so, used to be a gourmet pub and at times you couldn't get near it to eat as it was always full!
But oh how times have changed.
Basic pub fair reasonably well served but complimented with frozen chips and...

Lovely looking pub and a very welcome sight after a long walk.a cosy bar and good selection of beers along with a warming fire to greet us.
It is just a shame the bubble burst with the attitude of the bar steward in charge.
Lovely cheese sandwich and beer though!
(ps. they don't like serving tea or coffee: it uses...

Had a fantastic week in star bottom, and frequented the fox n hounds every night. Good food and magic choice of wine, great log fire ,such a scenic pub ,quant and cosey, the steak n ale pie is a must .this pub is in the pretty village of starbotton, which is pretty and central for. Hill walks ,highly recommend .
When today and had a lovely time. Pub was clean and very presentable. Very friendly staff and they seemed to know what they were talking about which is not always the case in many pubs. Would go again.
