We went to this restaurant on a personal recommendation & the Sawday app (so invaluable!). The food is excellent and the service first class. We had the beef rump (very tender) with butternut squash puree, sauté potatoes & asparagus along with 'very tender' loin of pork, morels, creamed potato and hazelnut brocoli. It tasted better than it sounds! You get... More

We stayed at the Griffin for a night at the start of this year's Hay festival and it was excellent! One of the nicest B&Bs I have come across and the food and wine was amazing. Particularly liked the the bar area with sofas and a big open fireplace. The pub was as popular with locals as it was with... More

Visited as a foursome at end of March 2013 and fortunately turned up early for our 1 p.m. booking. It was a cold day and we were placed right against this roaring fire. So close to it were we that one of our party felt scorched as he sat down. It was impossible the get to the table without us... More

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our lunch at this very friendly pub/hotel. It has a special authenticity about it. The staff were very polite and freindly. The food was delicious and very well presented. It was well worth the hour drive. We are both looking forward to returning for dinner.

We stayed here as a big group the night before a wedding nearby. The hotel and pub is lovely, and I am only sorry I didn't get to eat dinner here, and enjoy sitting by the fire some more. We had tasty bar snacks, HUGE sausage rolls, and a gorgeous breakfast, both buffet style and cooked. The bed was very... More

We have stayed here before but stopped for food on the way back from mid wales. Got a table with no fuss and without booking. Food and service was very good. The best local lamb cooked to perfection. Wouldn't hesitate to recomend to all.

My lovely family took me here for my 70th birthday. After we had attempted a walk in the Black Mountains, were soaked to the skin. The hotel dried all our kit in the boiler house. Then we sat down to supper - all 11 of us, aged 4 to 70, around a big table next to the Aga. Service was... More

We spent two nights here so we were well placed to walk and explore the Black Mountains and the Breacon Beacons. The hotel is situated just off a busy road outside Brecon and there is some road noise in the bedrooms if you sleep with the windows open but we did not find this too obtrusive and did not stop... Having visited the sister pub in Cornwall we decided to pay the Griffin a visit whilst staying closeby in the Brecons. the pub was on a busy road but once inside there wasn't any traffic noise. As it was Easter sunday all tables were booked so we just had a drink from the small bar. The interior was very smart... More

Perfect afternoon...snow outside and I was inside The Felin Fach enjoying a fantastic Sunday Roast in front of a lovely log fire...great scenery around that area too. The date and walnut sponge pudding with treacle sauce and ice cream was heaven!
