A short Stag weekend, one night only, but a very pleasant experience. Checkin was simple, room was superb, large, clean, great tea (Newby) and coffee facilities. (Shoe-shine was requested from reception and was polish and a buffer - quaint, but a ready polisher would have been quicker and less messy - unless they actually had someone that would do it... More

This is a wonderful location. It is a beautifully proportioned country hotel with a terrific restaurant serving food that stops a cigarette paper short of the coveted Michelin standard. The venue is warm and friendly, the staff are very professional and everyone is made to feel comfortable, all set in a truly elegant setting. The main course portions are a... More

Six of us went to Newick Park for lunch today. It's such a fantastic setting, beautiful views and lots of places to sit inside and out. Having met at 1.00 for drinks, we were still there at 6.00! Delicious food, sensible sized portions and reasonable prices. The dining room is comfortable and bright with excellent service from everyone.

I decided to book dinner at the Newick park Hotel for our wedding Anniversary. The hotel is set in the lovely grounds of Newick Park and the hotel itself is a beautiful oldcountry house. We were met at the door and ushered into the lounge , where we were told we were the only ones dining that night. Surprised at... More

Dear Kathleen P Thank you for your review of Newick Park on your daughter’s wedding day. It certainly was a bit wet outside but I am glad the fires helped create a warm atmosphere inside. It is a shame the sun did not come out for the photographs but I am sure the beautiful interior helped make up for it.... More

Dear EJD1971 Thank you for taking the time to leave your review. The log fires will be burning late into the season this year. Our guests love sitting by the fires surrounded by Jaques games. We also love the calming atmosphere inside the house and around the grounds. We have a beautiful stag that appears in the morning mist occasionally... More

We were having dinner with a large group of friends and decided to treat ourselves to an overnight stay to avoid taxis, driving home etc. This same group has met for dinner Newick Park in previous years and we have always enjoyed the elegance of the venue, although two years ago the room we use (the Library) could have been... Dear Ashdownman Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. I am genuinely sorry we did not meet or exceed your expectations on this occasion. We were aware you found the Library cold two years ago and made every effort to ensure it was warm and welcoming. Keeping the house warm can be extremely challenging in winter and... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
One of the finest traditions to be found in England is that of the country house. Representing a wonderful escape from the bustle of daily life, they have always been places for the lucky few to relax, unwind and catch up with friends. The country house hotel is the modern day interpretation and Newick Park in East Sussex is one of the best. It is one of the few to be privately owned and run so it still feels exactly like a family home; it is elegant and friendly, with huge log fires, fabulous antiques and wonderful staff. The lovely Georgian house is Grade II* listed and is surrounded by its own private park of 255 acres, which means it enjoys complete peace and privacy, together with the most fabulous views over the lake and nearby South Downs. Each of the sixteen bedrooms is individually designed, some with four poster beds, others with some of the widest beds you will ever sleep in. It is thirty minutes from Gatwick Airport and from the historic city of Brighton. The internationally renowned Glyndebourne Opera House is only fifteen minutes away and there are many historic houses, gardens and castles within easy reach. Wi-fi broadband internet access is provided free of charge and there are two beautiful light and airy function rooms ideal for meetings or small conferences. Guests can have fun on the quad bikes or the 'in-house' tank, and clay pigeon shooting is available with full instruction. Newick Park also organises team-building or family based activities such as treasure hunts, which are great fun. Private parties, weddings and other special occasions are often celebrated here, with most being held as exclusive use events. "Shortly after opening in 1996 Newick Park earned, and has retained, the AA's supreme accolade of 'Top 200 Hotels', now known as the 'Inspector's Choice'. Our food is also excellent – a fact that has again been acknowledged by the AA who continue to award us Multi Rosette Status. The restaurant is led by Head Chef Chris Moore who searches out only the best local food including many ingredients sourced directly from the estate and organically run kitchen garden. Other recent awards include the prestigious Conde Nast Johansens's Readers Award for 2008 awarded to the hotel which has had the most positive feedback from Johansen's readers. As well as being a finalist in both the 2009 Champagne Taittinger Wine List Award and Conde Nast Johansens’s Most Excellent Innovation in Sustainable Hospitality Award in 2010." Whatever the reason for your visit, whether it is for a meeting, wedding or short break, once you have experienced the unique atmosphere of Newick Park you may find it hard not to return. ... more   less
