We spent two nights at the chieftain and were surprised to find that the rooms look absolutely nothing like the pictures on their website. The "double" beds were more like twin size, we could barely stand in the tiny shower, there stains and cigarette burns in the blankets, and there was no screen on the window which not only opened... We drove through Squamish on our way from Whistler to Vancouver Island in late May and needed a place to sleep. The front desk at the Chieftain hotel was very helpful when asking for availability so we decided to spend the night here. Big mistake! The check-in that usually takes no more than ten minutes, took 35 here. They were... More

First of all, don't be fooled by the pictures of this hotel that are visible on travel sites. I took my own pictures, and I promise they don't match up. From the hole in our wall to the cigarette burn in my blanket and the wooden slabs which held up the slightly-larger-than-twin beds, I was ridiculously thankful when my cell... More

The Chieftain is very different to most hotels we stayed at on our 4 week road trip. We had passed through Squamish on previous visits to the area, but never stayed, we knew the Chieftain from the TV series "Men in Trees". Do not be put off by the appearance of the large old building. It houses a Hotel, Pub,... More

I would recommend this hotel not just for the price but for the cleanliness of the rooms and the very pleasant helpful service. All rooms have recently been remodelled and updated. Decor is tasteful. Had a great sleep in a VERY comfortable bed.

I found this on Expedia for $69 and it seemed nice. The hotel is older, no elevator so you have to drag your suitcases upstairs. On entering the room it was all in green complete with velvet green bedspread and green sheer draperies. Worst part was the continuous thumping from the bar below and NO hot water at nite or... More

My family stayed at the Chieftain hotel in Squamish, BC and we hadall the worst night sleep ever. The bar downstairs was so loud the floor and walls were literally shaking until past 2:00 A.M. I have small children and they cried in my arms all night long!!!! This was the worst night sleep I have ever had. Don't make... More

Stay away from this dump,it is much safer to sleep in your car. The room was hot and had a funky smell. There were a bunch of weird hotel guests that creeped us out.All night a lot of junkies were running around in the hotel even though they were not staying there. there were lot of drunk and drugged up... The front desk staff (one man) asked if" he could help me with something" when I showed up...as if people just randomly stop by the desk for other reasons then the obvious one! To check in! Room: Sketchy! We are just passing through from Whistler to Victoria, we would advise just going all the way to Victoria! You can tell... More

I had to stay at the Chieftain for one night with my 15 year old son, when everything else in Squamish was booked up. I was a little apprehensive, since this is an older, downtown hotel with a rowdy bar on the premises. When I booked on-line I specifically requested a room away from the bar to reduce noise, but...
