The hotel is a good block away from the highway. You don't hear the traffic at all. This location is great. 5 minute walking distance to all the commercial outfits in town. There is also a kids play ground around the corner. All the other hotels in town are on the highway up the hill from town. Large room. The bed was very comfortable The bathroom was fine. Nice size fridge with freezer. Sitting area and Bbq area. Nice couple running the place. No better place for this price.

A mix up occurred with our booking during a difficult family situation where our reservation was booked a day earlier by a disorientated family member. We accepted the mistake and wanted to continue on with our booking for the following and correct day, but requested if it was possible to get a discount on the first night that we weren’t actually in that community yet and would not be staying until the following evening. The manger was quite rude about the situation and was not willing to work with us at all. It was understandable if he was unable to fill the room we would still be charged…but it did not make sense for him to continue to charge for the pet fees or give any Lee way on the situation. It just felt very uncaring and money hungry and we will never give our business there again.

Response from David Lee, Owner at Crystal Springs Motel
Responded Aug 16, 2023
To ensure you're well-informed about your reservation and prevent any issues, we send confirmation and "pre-arrival reminder" emails. These emails allow you to double-check your check-in date and make any necessary adjustments. However, on the day of your arrival, we received a call at 8:40 PM saying you couldn't make it. We appreciate your situation, but due to the short notice, we had only a limited time to rebook the room. Unfortunately, we couldn't find another guest to fill the vacancy. During our conversation, I explained that if we managed to rebook the room, you wouldn't be charged. However, since we weren't able to do so, the room remained unoccupied, leading to the charge. While I understand your circumstances, I want to clarify a few points. Our system tracks email deliveries, and we can confirm the status of the emails we sent. Also, we sent a pre-arrival reminder email which you said received, highlighting our proactive approach to prevent such situations. Instead of waiting until 5 hours after your check-in time, reaching out a day earlier would have given us a better chance to accommodate changes.

Disappointing stay. We have stayed here many times in the past but sadly this motel is no longer the friendly, clean, place to stay in Radium. The courtyard has always been our favorite place to hang out and we were thankful that it was still there. It's not as clean or as well manicured, but outside sitting is always appreciated. The room upstairs was average and the shower looked to be new so that was nice. The carpet outside on the second level was a tripping hazard and needs to be fixed or replaced before someone gets hurt. The check in clerk was efficient and nice and forwarded my query about why there is a difference in direct booking rates to the manager. Unfortunately, dealing with the assistant manager upon check out was frustrating. I asked the simple question of 'why they charge more if you direct book over the phone versus on-line.' The Assistant managers response surprised me when she stated that 'if you book on-line you do all the work but if you book over the phone, we have to do all the work and take your information'. A few hours later I get an email from the manager blaming me for accepting the rate (yup I did) stating that " We are all too busy to answer all the phone calls that we get everyday. Please don't get it wrong. It is not we don't want to talk to the customers, it is just we are so busy." He continues with "My assistant manager was bewildered early this morning, so she gave you the worst example .It sounded like you misunderstood what she said." I may have misunderstood what they said but I will no longer return or recommend this hotel to travelers.

We stopped at this location on our recent road trip. Is was suggested to us by my parents. The location is off the main road but in walking distance of everything making it the perfect spot to stay. The room was smaller than expected, but was clean and well kept. I was impressed with how the motel created gathering/eating spots including the use of BBQ's that I saw several guests take advantage of.

Since our last stay, the property continues to suffer from age. Carpets outside seriously need restretching. Service is less than last time - no breakfast any more, room servicing needed to be requested on a 2 day stay and then it was only towels. As an upside, they did have a new spray tower thing in the shower, so they are doing some things. But it is getting dated overall. Beds were decent, and noise level was low, so a good sleep.

Clean, spacious room in a well maintained motel with bbq’s available for guests to use. No pool. Neighbourhood is safe to walk in, golfing nearby, restaurants and grocery store a few blocks away. Playground, tennis courts one block away. I’d stay here again.

In the context of being a 2 star hotel, this was clean but very cramped and costly. We paid $163 (after taxes) for a very small suite for 5 people with two queens and a small twin pull out sofa. There was barely room to move around and we had to move the coffee table on top of the dresser to pull out the sofa. There was no storage space for suitcases and hotel boasted "fast internet" at up to 75mbps. I believe this suite was easily under 300 square feet. The beds and pillows were comfortable, the property was charming, and the BBQ was a nice touch. The area was safe and nice. The walls were thin so all outdoor noise filtered in. I could hear neighbours talking as if I were in the room with them. I frequently stay at 2 star hotels and I appreciated the outdoor decor but for the price it was mediocre at best. Had this been $110 total it would be worth the stay. I try to support family run businesses amd to their defense I booked two nights before my stay so that might account for the higher cost. Hotel staff were friendly and cleanliness made this hotel stand out.

The place is old and needs updated. The bathroom was ok. Wallpaper coming off the wall. You had to check in through a window. Doesn’t support the great view that the other hotels did. I think I would look at something else in the future.

We had never stayed here before but were impressed by the reviews. It is close to town shops and restaurants and was also close to our friend's condo. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable and the cooking area (I hesitate to call it a kitchen it was so small) was well appointed and everything worked fine. Because of COVID it did not offer its usual free hot breakfast, but this may have changed by now. There were no inside areas so masking rules did not apply. The front desk was a window and staff were masked at all times. We would not hesitate to stay here again.

The personnel is very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable and, although basic, is all a person would need, especially for the price charged. We would stay here again. The small stove, fridge, microwave, sink and coffeemaker as well as the outside patio furniture is a bonus.
