This place is awful. The heater in the room did not work ( even after ‘fixing’ it). The gym is pathetic with awful equipment. The check-in process was beyond slow. Worst hotel experience that I have ever had!

Absolutely terrible hotel. Filthy, no towels no cleaning of your room, no garbage pick up. Also, God help you if you get sick with anything, they will discriminate against you because your sick and kick you out. Stay the hell away!

My top 3 choices were sold out and I came here :( And I knew from the parking lot that this would be a doozy. This place HAS potential. The floors iun the room seem new. Looks like a recent coat or paint. But that's just to lure ya in. The rest is pretty nasty. The rooms are very poorly cleaned. Mine was a ground level with hardwood floors. The amount of crumbs and dirt I saw when I first was gross. It made me assume that, because whoever cleaned this room clearly took no pride in doing the job properly that the rest of the room was probably nasty as well. There is a very distinct, foul smell in the hallways and even more so when you enter the room. It just smells like all furnishings and the walls could use a really good wipe down. So much dust around the windows and wall edges. The "air conditioner" is hot garbage. Rumbling loud when on high and low doesn't do anything to cool you down. It's not all horrors though: Bed is comfy. Front desk girl was super friendly. Internet / wifi seems decent.

Our family of five stayed there one night in August, 2019 and found it to be comfortable. The morning hot variety breakfast was awesome for us, tired some travelers after driving all day. It was a welcome place to relax and sleep.

We hosted our T.O.P.S Fall Rally at the Northern Star Hotel and Convention Centre. Jackie and the kitchen staff went above and beyond what they were expected. My crockpot wasn't working right so they finished cooking my soup for me. We had over 75 people and we were treated like royalty, any thing we needed or wanted they did for us. I say Jackie because i asked her name she is at the front desk. the other lady I didn't get her name of the other fellas that were a great help. Our Rally was awesome. THANK YOU SO MUCH NORTHERN STAR Hotel staff. They also gave our guest and discount rate.

I stayed overnight in a reasonably nice room but they charged me more than the advertised price. I could not make out why and the explanation given to me in broken English was hard to follow but I was tired and ready for a hot shower and a sleep so I let it slide. Only a few dollars more ant not worth arguing over. The carpet was a bit dirty and there was a slight smell to it. Three hours after checking out and I was well out of town on my way home I got a phone call from the same person accusing me of smoking in the room. I insisted this was impossible since I do not smoke. It kind of spoiled my morning. I would not stay there again for this reason. There are many other choices in Slave Lake for hotels. How rude !

Even though there's a few cosmetic updates, the hotel rooms are still run down and smell like cigarettes. The walls are still scuffed, stained, the bathroom seems decade's old. Really disappointing. There are definitely better options in slave lake.

We stay at hotels all over the country while fighting forest fires and our plans are prone to changing often. Fortunately most places are very understanding, but not here. We booked two rooms at this hotel and as luck would have it plans changed, we tried to cancel our rooms with-in the hour of booking them and NO WAY would they let us. Their policy is no cancellations with-in 24 hours of booking so we ended up paying for the hotel rooms in Slave Lake that night which were empty. Thanks a lot for supporting the people that fight forest fires.
