Beautiful, serene…amazing! The resort has the most beautiful views, grounds, cabins…I could go on n on. We filled the resort Friday to Sunday. My daughter’s wedding was Saturday September 9, 2023. The owner went above and beyond making every detail absolutely perfect. It was a wedding I couldn’t have dreamt so beautifully. Thank you Lynette for your attention to every detail! You are amazing!

We have been going to Quadra Island for over forty years for camping. When our daughter booked the Gowlland Harbour resort for her wedding we were very happy. The resort is very comforting, cozy, and well landscaped. The harbour and beachfront are exceptional natural and rugged. A few weeks before the wedding we found out the resort was under new management and ownership. Needless to say, we were very apprehensive, because we were so close to the wedding and how it was all going to turn out. Well, the new manager and owner were on it. BOTH the Manager and owner worked with us to make our daughter's wedding a weekend to remember for sure. We all had a great time. Everyone keep commenting how wonderful the resort and wedding was. The resort itself needs some touch ups. to make it into a world class place. There is no place in the world better than B.C. in the summer, this resort helps to prove that.

We were made aware of the fact that the dining room was closed because of COVID, but weren't expecting that there would be no reception, no staff and generally no amenities! We stayed in one of the guest houses over the Thanksgiving weekend with and brought the food with us to make our meal, but the kitchen wasn't well enough supplied for us to make dinner! Quadra is a pretty small place, and there weren't many dining options at the last minute on a long weekend. There were no dish cloths and simple things were missing that you would expect in a "resort" - like shampoo! There was only one small garbage bag, which we filled up quickly and when we went to the reception building to ask about getting another there was nobody there (should have guessed that as our key was attached to a board outside the door when we arrived). An email to the resort bounced back saying they were away until Tuesday (this was Saturday). The carpet was filthy, but this wasn't totally unexpected in a pet-friendly unit. All in all a very disappointing stay (especially for >$400/night!). Only plus was the comfortable beds. But we won't be back.

The Cove House: not as marketed, it’s a bunky attached to the lodge. My partner spent his hard earned money on a birthday gift, that was heartbreakingly disappointing. Witnessing him upset after all of his effort was awful. There was no dining, no cleaning and no privacy. They failed to mention a concert that happened in front of our room. My partner tried to make a nice meal and we had people looking in our windows, on our deck asking us for food. When we went to eat people were sitting in our dinning chairs. No sunset dinner possible. If we had known, we would have went somewhere else for dinner. The internet does not work if you need it for something important. The view is stunning and the other houses might be better. I don't often post on here, but I don't want someone else to waste their money and be heartbroken like we were :( When our experience was shared with management they were dismissive and further upsetting.

My husband booked accommodation at this property for my birthday way back in November. Per their policies stated on their website we followed up three weeks before our arrival to ensure everything was set. The night before we were set to leave my husband noticed that our dates had been changed. No email, no notification. He contacted them immediately. The answer: ‘Oh, there must have been a system glitch, we have a wedding at our property the next few days now, we can’t accommodate you.’. We have multiple emails and confirmations showing the exact dates we booked, and at no time received ANY type of cancellation or change notice. His property is no different than the major airlines lately, cancelling or changing as it suits hem with no notice. At some point I’m sure I might laugh about this, ironic that it’s our accommodation that’s pulled the switch and bait here and not the airlines. Ah well, will certainly give me a story to share broadly with friends and colleagues!

We had a fabulous wedding weekend. Carmen and staff work very hard to make a very memorable weekend for all the guests. The breakfasts, appies and wedding dinner were all absolutely delicious! Every guest commented on the quality of the dining. The views and accommodations are all lovely.

While visiting this beautiful resort we stayed in the honeymoon suite which has incredible unobstructed views of the harbor. The deck is a wonderful place to sit and have morning coffee. Truly enjoyed the large soaker tub and fireplace. Carmen was a pleasure to deal with and the self check in system makes social distancing a breeze. We will definitely return.

We stayed in the Arbutus House in January with 2 couples and 2 toddlers for 6 nights. The place was great, had an absolutely beautiful view, and we had the woods and a dock to explore right outside our cabin. Quadra island is very quiet in the winter, and not many restaurants are open, so I would suggest bringing your own food and just having meals at the cabin. Don't expect to be able to go kayaking or anything because all of these businesses are also closed in the winter. However, there are lovely trails to explore in the area, and we picked a different place to hike each day. We had a couple of meals at the Heriot Bay Inn (the one restaurant we found to be open) which were delicious. Everything is easy to get to. The weather was mixed, but as long as you are prepared for that it was fine. Would definitely stay here again in the future!
