We stayed 3 nights at the Whitehouse and it was cheap and central, but the area is pretty grotty. We didn't know the city and the most upmarket place we could find to eat within easy walking distance, apart from chippies and kebab shops, was MacDonalds! The review by ThatRoger nicely summed up our one night stay. The walk to the city centre for us was nearer 10-15 minutes. There is a handily placed locals estate pub within 100 yards with a good range of ales. more
All we needed was a bed for a couple of nights and a bite to eat to start the day.
