Called into this lovely pub on a Friday night after staying close by for the week. A lovely atmosphere, lovely vintage decor, friendly, welcoming barman/landlord, no music! - great!! The perfect little pub. We didn't try the food, but definitely will next time. We will definitely be back. It's easy to find if you walk along the walls from the centre towards the weir.

Once again 4 of us each had a superb meal . We were served up with very big platefuls of hot, fresh and great tasting food. A sign that someone in the kitchen (Claire) really knows what they were doing is when vegetables are fresh and not over cooked. This really could not be bettered. Please don't change anything, pub, atmosphere and food 5 star! The Albion Inn is far and away the best eating and drinking in Chester and all with a warm welcome. Thanks from a very full and happy Spaniard.

My twin brother Stephen and I decided to drop into The Albion Inn after walking around the wonderful Roman Walls. A great looking pub, vintage advertising enamels adorning the walls ,great decor and furnishings and plenty of seating options spread throughout this great back street pub. We ordered beers and luckily managed to get a table,we just kicked back, chilled out and took in the great pub we were in. Beer served here was really good,a crisp, light, hoppy and unpretentious lager style beer bursting with taste ,it was just so good being in such a lovely pub enjoying a quality beer. We really enjoyed our beers in here ,only stayed for the one each before we moved on and as on every other visit to The Albion Inn we had a great time. The Albion Inn is easy to locate along Albion Street/ Park Street. A great pub,I highly recommend you check out this pub if you're in the area.…

I used to go in regularly but l developed a hiatus hernia and could not drink beer so l stopped. My friend suggested we go again and I was a little surprised it was still open after the death of legendary landlord Mike Mercer. But Christina and Claire are still going for now and it is still Mike's pub. I have drunk in many pubs and bars around the world so l am qualified to state that the Albion is one of the world's great pubs. That does not mean everyone will like it but the Albion is unique and wonderful. It is very much a winter pub: quiet, cosy, conversational, selling homemade English food in delightful surroundings. Conversation flows between anyone in the pub who wants to talk and the staff. It is a place women can go alone and not either ignored or bothered. It is what a pub should be: a convivial home from home. Hiatus hernia or not, we will be back regularly.…

We love this pub it's like going back in time. No music just a nice chilled atmosphere and quirky. Food is lovely and staff are always nice and chatty. Well worth calling in if you are in Chester. The theme is 1940s which just adds to the whole thing.

Went in on a very hot July afternoon for a cool beer. It's rather strange, like a theme pub for a wartime Britain that existed long ago but seems to be what a section of the population would like to return to. Lots of interesting memorabilia and old fashioned decor. The barmaid could have been a bit more welcoming and sadly the only draught lager was Carling. You'd think they'd have a British lager to match the theme. I had a nice pint of ale though. The menu is great. Meat and two veg stuff. The lady who cooked the meals was great. We were the only two in at the time, sat in the snug area and were treated to good portions of shin casserole and turkey with plenty veg, potatoes and gravy. The food was great and we can forgive the ping of the microwave cos clearly can't produce the variety on the menu from scratch. Great feed for under a tenner and a nice pint so can forgive the less than friendly welcome from the barmaid. …

This place is like stepping back in time, what a proper pub should be like. Open fire was a nice touch on a very cold day Went in for a drink and ended up staying for lunch Will definitely return here next time I’m in Chester

Had lunch here after a morning shopping in Chester. It's a long time since we last visited and I was pleased to see that nothing had changed. Nice cosy place for lunch and the menu is small but perfect home cooked food ( no chips). Had haggis which was delicious. It is family unfriendly;- people trying to enter with a child in pushchair were politely turned away but dogs are welcome. Great! Have heard that the licensee is retiring shortly so hope that whoever takes over maintains the same standard.
