Like most reviewing here I have had the pleasure of dining at the other restaurants in the group. We live near the Griffin in Wales and had usually frequent the gurnard, when in this neck of the woods. Penzance and Mousehole were both beautiful places and worth a visit regardless of coming to the Coast guard. The food here was... More

Lovely small hotel, staff extremely helpful, services excellent, sea view room well appointed. Delightful interior in peacful tones, great place to eat, read and relax. Perfect place from which to explore this area of Cornwall. Mousehole is a treasure, long may it remain so! The chef coped well with the breakfast demands of four each of whom wanted their eggs... We recently stayed at The Old Coastguard Hotel having booked tickets for the performance at the Mincack Theatre at Portcurno. We discovered this hotel having stayed at The Guarnards Head in March. Our room was lovely, and the hotel staff warm and welcoming and had made up a picnic for our Minack visit as requested. The hotel is beautifully situated... More

We came here as a big group and the food was without exception very good. The staff were especially good coping with the demands of the twelve of us, curtious and prompt. We came for lunch on a sunny afternoon and the garden was a very pleasant place to pass a few hours with friends. As for the prices and... More

My wife and I really enjoyed this place. Small (14 rooms), rustic modern styling (old, several buildings blended into one larger building and redone with clean lines in main areas), extraordinarily friendly staff all around (I mean everyone), in demand (book in advance), location is wonderful (if you like small seaside fishing towns in Cornwall), restaurant is super (good choices,... The Old Coastguard Hotel, Mousehole. After a rather unpleasant experience at The Ship Inn, we fortunately found The Old Coastguard, a very civilised place where we were made very welcome. Pleasant company, fabulous views and garden, spacious, newly refurbished bars and restaurant, great food and drink… what more could you ask for? Nothing, in our opinion, we shall certainly book... Much of what has been written about the Old Coastguard - both good and bad resonates with us. The front of house service is both friendly and professional. The food is good. The wine list is not run of the mill, which for us was great. The public areas were clean and we enjoyed the shabby chic feel to the... More

Thank you for your comments and we're glad you had a broadly good stay. In response to your thoughts about investment, we'd agree almost to the letter. That is why most of our early investment has gone to the invisible but critical areas of plumbing, electrics and other infrastructure, which gives us the long term basis to make a success... More

This is our second visit since the acquisition in 2011, albeit we advanced our holiday date by 7 days. We arrived, the staff are brilliant, both Front of House ( Alice is Great) restaurant too many to mention all attentive, the housekeepers 2 sisters are brilliant. The rooms are very much mix and match from a furniture perspective, botched ceiling... More

This is a long review to which our full response would test the patience of readers. We have though sent a long email to the guests which I hope addresses all of their points. In some areas we've felt we needed to respond in strong terms. In fact, we felt so strongly about the content of their review that we... More

Stayed one night to celebrate my husbands birthday. Stunning views from our bedroom (No. 15). A giant comfy bed with lots of pillows and a bathroom you could hold a party in (including whirlpool bath). Lovely, well kept garden leadin down to the sea and a path into the village and harbour. Staff were cheerful and helpful - even with... More

We booked this hotel as part of a bigger trip, this one being the little luxury in between staying at some less expensive places. It is definitely worth the money. It doesn't look much from the outside on first impressions, but this is deceptive! We stayed in Room 3 (the 4 poster bed). We immediately felt at home and cosy... More
