I stayed here for 3 nights toward the end of a two week visit to southeast England. I found Howie who manages the Front Desk to be very forthcoming and responsive. My room and the hotel generally exceeded my expectations, especially considering what I thought to be a modest but fair room rate/tarriff. To be clear, I believe it is... More

Wonderful, small hotel with a witty, up front manager, who made my wife and I feel welcome and part of the family. The staff was wonderful and made us feel at home. Food here is excellent and we had many good hot meals and sandwiches. Some earlier comments about run down condition are misleading and exaggerated, GET A LIFE. This... More

Our recent stay at the Union was a mixed bag. Host Howie was very friendly, helpful, and proud of the property he manages; however, said property is about to fall down around his and the owner's ears. Yes, the building is historic but it is also terribly run down. Beautiful marble sculptures in the breakfast room but third hand furniture... More

This historic and atmospheric building stands in one of the oldest streets in Penzance, therefore be prepared for chaotic parking and tight corners. The hotel car park is not signposted but is located at the rear of the hotel down a narrow lane and very tight turn, beware if you have a large car or 4x4, The entrance and reception... More

This is not a hotel for those who love a Premier Inn. Every room is different with it's own character. But the hotel has a wonderful feel about it, possibly because of it's age. It was around during the Spanish Armada, heard the news of Nelson's death, and has a function room named after the event. There is a lot... More

Arrived by bicycle and they were more than accommodating in finding us somewhere to store our bags and get ourselves sorted. Friendly staff and lovely setting. A bit aged perhaps but all the better for it. Would definitely go and back!

For reasons unknown to me I didnt review the Union for a long time, its only because I have booked a return visit I remembered to do it! As all others have said if you want a Premier Lodge then stay in one. In the words of the superb host Howie, this is an old Coaching Inn and it should... More

We came to hear the Bennet Brothers play at the Union so booked for the night. What an experience! Superb food, considerate and welcoming service, lovely room and historic pub of great character. What mine host, Howie, did not tell us about the inn's history we could find from the original bills and posteers on the walls. The modest cost... More

This place was great! We were a little apprehensive when we arrived, having read the very mixed TripAdvisor reviews, but our fears were soon allayed when we were welcomed by Howie, the rather eccentric owner, who greeted us warmly and directed us to the car park to the rear of the hotel. Our room was big with a high ceiling... More
