The staff here were unfailingly helpful and friendly. Maybe that is why funeral parties seem to be a speciality here; we arrived with one and it was the same the last time our friends stayed here. Our ground floor room was in a converted garage across the car park from the main entrance. Consequently, all arrivals and departures were able... More

I had originally planned to go to Shelleys but switched to Pelham because they start breakfast at 7.00 and I needed to leave by 7.30. It is a slightly unusual hotel having been the Town Hall in an earlier life. My room was a decent size with a view over the gardens. Internet worked well, I had a very nice... More

As is usual for me, this is another corporate one night stay. Had a very professional greeting by reception and then a spacious double looking south over the grounds to the South Downs. One thing to note; prebook parking. It is limited, I didn't but was fortunate to get a space on a quiet Tuesday night. I had comfortable bed,... More

We arrived in the evening and were really looking forward to the night.Reception were friendly but didn't advise there was a bar serving reasonable food and just informed us of the formal a la carte. We didn't fancy the a la carte menu so ate out which was their loss.We didn't discover the bar served food until we returned later.Queued... More

Stayed only one night for work, but found the hotel to be excellent. Lovely building, great central location, excellent breakfast and very friendly staff. I stayed in room 1, which was small but perfectly formed and had everything I required. Only negative would be the sound of heating pump or shower pipes from about 6am which seemed to pass through... The title says it all really. This hotel sets its stall out as quite upmarket, but our experience was that the service, attention to detail and accommodation did not follow through and the room rate of £135 for a standard double room was too high. To begin with, we arrived and discovered that our room configurations were wrong. The hotel... More

I am extremely disappointed that we failed to meet your expectations during your recent stay. It is unfortunate that there was some confusion surrounding your reservation but I am pleased that we quickly rectified the issue, however I can only apologise if the communication relating to this mix up was not handled appropriately. I have reviewed the problems you experienced... More

Clean, comfortable and with good attentive staff. Close to the High Street with easy access to shops, pubs and restaurants, but still quiet. Great southerly views from the terrace at the back. They were happy to look after our bikes and securely lock them in a shed

The wife and I were touring the area taking in the history and countryside when we came upon Lewes. The town simply oozes character. The High Street has some shops which are a bit run down and have seen better days, others which are clearly thriving. The archtecture is wonderful, make sure you look upwards as you walk along. So... We went (as a couple) for one night on a dinner, bed and breakfast deal. They advertise their deals through their website and it's definitely worth a look! Pelham House is in the centre of Lewes, a short walk from the train station and very close to all the shops, cafes and restaurants (and the lovely Lewes Castle). They have... More

Pelham House is a lovely old building, but with areas now fairly contemporised in their furnishings. My heart sank a little after entering a lovely old front door into a stone clad hallway, to find the ubiquitous fake wedding 'dressing' on a table of two tilted champagne glasses, a ladies hat, and an empty ice bucket. The spanish male receptionist... More
