Just got back from this charming, where the service was second to none, we have never, had such an excellent personal service anywhere like this, so I don't like to pick out any slight faults, because the pros outweigh the cons by far, but here goes, we stayed for 2 nights in a room superior deluxe breakfast included, as it... Rye Lodge has been part of the Best Loved portfolio for many years and we have enjoyed a wonderful relationship with the owners and staff. I have stayed many times, and only 2 weeks ago in the very same room that received such criticism in a recent TA review. The standard of cleanliness is second to none, and I have... More

Decided to break our journey in Rye and spent a very comfy night here. The pool was a lovely surprise and we enjoyed cream tea with champagne so much we decided against dinner out. It was a real feast! Very clean fresh room with a lovely view. We will stop off at Rye Lodge on purpose next time we pass... More

My wife and I have just returned from a four day visit to the Rye Lodge. It is our third visit, and it will certainly not be our last. From the moment we signed the visitors book we were made welcome, the staff are exceptional, nothing is too much trouble. Our bedroom was spacious, beautifully furnished, and we were welcomed... On a positive note the chap who works at the hotel was very nice and helpful, but that is where positivity stops! I am sorry to say that it really is a hotel I would not advise anyone to book with, due to - Rather dirty, bathroom was hideous Looked like a dirty neglected dump from the rear! Tatty fittings... We are surprised and saddened by this guest's review. Only a few days earlier an inspector from Best Loved Hotels stayed overnight and complimented the hotel. An AA inspector and other recent reviewers have also commented on Rye Lodge’s high standards especially housekeeping. Other recent reviewers have also commented on Rye Lodge's high standards. The decor of the hotel is... More

My girlfriend and I decided to escape London for the weekend. All the staff at the hotel were very friendly and couldn't do enough to help. We stayed in a very nice room at the front of the hotel with amazing open views over the river and Romney Marsh. Had breakfast served in the room (Full menu and no extra... More

This is a lovely hotel, beautifully decorated, with a charming friendly personnel. The room was the quiestest we have ever slept in! The pool was great after a day visiting. Only criticism was the the bathroom was too small.but this may depend on the type of room you reserve.

We had a three day break here and wished we had gone elsewhere. On arrival the first point of contact is normally a friendly receptionist, not in this case. The woman on reception (Jane) was far from friendly and we felt as if we were putting her out by staying. The rest of the staff however were very friendly and... More

Very surprised and upset that this guest felt Jane, who is one of our senior and longstanding members of staff, did not make them feel very welcome at all times during their visit. We will take this matter up with her when she returns from her holiday. As Rye is blessed with so many excellent places to eat, all within... More

We recently attended the sabrage evening and had a lovely time. The location of hotel is excellent and we were thankful for this as it rained all weekend. On arrival we had tea but were not offered sandwiches or such. Subsequently someone came in and had this but we only got biscuits in a packet. Bit disappointing. Room clean if... More

We are very sorry that the guests were not verbally offered our full range of teas, coffees and snacks. Menus are placed on each table in the lounge and hall and in the bedrooms so there may have been a misunderstanding about what was wished by the guest. Of course a full range of teas, cakes, cream teas, hot and... More

The rooms were lovely and clean, the staff were friendly and it is just an overall pleasurable place to stay. The added bonus of a small swimming pool and sauna is great too. I just wish that there was a dinner option available for the evenings. Please keep up the marvellous standards.
