The pub has recently been refurbished and now looks much nicer - the ladies loo in particular! We visited on a Monday lunchtime and it was quite busy but service was just as friendly and quick as usual. We had the two for £10 offer of gammon and chips which I could not fault. The gammon was tender and good... More

My German friend and my self were driving down to Cornwall to visit my daughter - who lives in Looe - and decided to break our journey in Cirencester in order to visit the Arboretum near by。 What a pleasure to find a pub that was both welcoming and reasonably priced. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the food as... Living on the outskirts of Cirencester we quite often go in to the town for the evening. We set off on this particular evening deciding on a pub meal rather than restaurant. Went in to first pub and it was uninviting so made for the Black Horse. Pub always has an inviting feel to it when you walk past and... More

Normally this is our "place of choice" to eat in Cirencester, reasonable food at a reasonable price. No this time though! I had the salmon. Hollondaise sauce was congealed, peas and carrots cold and the salmon - rock hard as if very over cooked. My wife's meal was as good as ever though. Staff were very good, apologised and full... More

I have eaten at the Black Horse on many occasions since I live in Cirencester, it is within walking distance, I usually visit if I have guests staying and I dont want to cook at home. My last visit was on a Monday evening, so being a week night, there was a good offer on, two steaks for the price... More

6 of us went to the black horse for xmas lunch, i was to say the least a little concerned as overal appearance of the pub is tired worn and more of a drinking pub, anyway recently in had undergone a refurb so i assumed it would be better.... never will i eat in there again. i was so disappointed,... Normally the food at the Black Horse is quite good but our last visit was not as good as previous ones. the chips were undercooked and the rest of the food, whilst being edible, was just "average", not it's normal "good". Staff and atmosphere as ever, very good and the prices aren't that bad. Hopefully, this was a glitch not... More

We popped into The Black Horse for lunch today and at first it looked like a lovely pub. We sat down (all 8 of us including 2 children) and looked at the menus; the children's menu looked really nice. We realised the food was a franchise as we'd seen the exact same menu in another nearby pub. We ordered 4... More

Me and my partner visit food places and leave reviews to help the great British public and visitors to eat in clean, respectable and great places. The location is Central to Cirencester town. The access is/would be hard for wheelchair persons. The bar is a lovely setting, very open and easily accessible. The food itself isn't worth the amount paid.... More

We did not stay here, our loss i think. We ate here ans enjoyed excellent food. 2 meals for £10 great food and great price. Staff were very friendly and attentive. Would definitely recommend.Really good location for exploring cirencester as quite central, will look into staying here next time we visit the area.
