I needed an unscheduled late stop and found Matley Wood. Very pretty and well placed but not cheap and with a sneaky unannounced fee if your not a member of the Caravan Club. Only facilities are water and chemical loo disposal. Oh, the access road is locked after 10.30pm which seems extraordinarily odd, trapping your vehicle inside until the morning!
We decided to stay here to break up
a long journey for one night. We were initially pleased with the site, a really lovely back to basics setting. There is no hook up, showers or toilets, which was not a problem.

this is a natural campsite not a hotel,you have to bring your own toilet as theres no toilet or showers herebut its worth bringing a portaloo and tent,as you have horses and other animals walking through, and keep your eyes open and can even see deer on local walks around,a lovely site if you like back to nature camping.dave.
