5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 June 2013 NEW

Last week was my third stay at the White House and it has never left me disappointed. I always arrive exhausted, but leave much more rested after a night's sleep in its' cozy and clean rooms (I'm a huge 'neat freak' and so appreciate the cleanliness of the bedrooms and bathrooms). Its' position in Canterbury is wonderful - only a... More

From booking via search engine, we got got a call, soon after because we was past our booking in time, ensuring we were not lost. Upon arrival, we were met and directed to a car park across the road and given a generously discounted parking permit ( £6 for 24 hours). Then we walked in and was greeted by a... More

2nd visit to the White House and again we asked for room number 1 which is very good size (6ft bed) and seem to offer far better value than the Abode, aving looked at their standard room. Location is excellent, only a stone throw from the high street and room number 1 is lovely and quiet. Adrian once again was... More

I stayed at The White House whilst working at the Marlowe Theatre in Canterbury. Adrian and his lovely wife gave my partner and I a surprise upgrade to a chic, inviting room with big windows and beautiful furnishings. Their hospitality was above and beyond what I had expected for a B&B. They made us feel right at home and provided... More

This hotel is tucked behind the High Street away from any noise. We were lucky to have a room at the back, which overlooked the new Marlowe Theatre - a wonderful building and well worth a visit to one of its productions. Parking is in the public car park which is only 50 yards from the road you are in.... More

If you are staying in Canterbury, you want to stay here. It's cosy, it's well-located, the breakfast is great, the beds comfortable, the host is personable and accommodating... there is nothing that could possibly make a stay at the White House (or anywhere, for that matter) any better than it already is. The only reason you would want to stay... More

As this was our first visit to Canterbury we had no idea what to expect. When we arrived at the White House we were greeted by Adrian who was right at the door to welcome us to his B & B. He made us feel right at home from the very start. You couldn't ask for a better host. It... More

Sorry about the late review...It's our first visit to Canterbury and we arrived in the morning so wanted to leave our luggage in the B&B before exploring the city. The White House is centrally located and only minutes of walking distance to the old town centre, cathedral, etc. Adrian was an excellent and welcoming host with a good sense of... More

Stayed over on Saturday night with our friends. Rooms were fantastic - very well decorated and very clean. Service was great and the traditional breakfast was very tasty - proper sausages and everything! Located right on the doorstep of the main high street and loads of bars, cafes and restaurants, I would definitely recommend this to anyone thinking of visiting... More

This was my second visit and I had no hesitation in booking again. Perfectly situated, welcomimg hosts - nothing too much trouble - lovely property with modern feel. Exceptionally clean and comfortable. Enjoyable quality breakfast (didn't have the cooked breakfast but it looked good and there was a good selection). My room (5) had everything in I needed so no... Official Description (provided by the hotel):
If you enjoy staying in stylish accommodation, with all those extra little personal touches that make you feel special as a guest, then maybe the White House is for you. The White House is an elegant Grade II listed Regency Town House, originally reputed to have been the retirement home of Queen Victoria's Head Coachman and built in 1825. Our 4 Star Highly Commended accommodation is especially suited to discerning guests seeking a small intimate property (we do not cater for children) and its ideal location, within the City walls, is an added bonus for those who enjoy soaking up the vibrant atmosphere of a University city, but who may prefer to avoid the impersonality of a larger hotel. Our 7 rooms are furnished to the highest standards to ensure maximum guest comfort - large cosy beds to fall into after a hard days sightseeing, soft pillows, with cool contemporary white linens and quality furnishings to ensure a real 'home from home'. A few minutes walk (literally!) will take you right into the main High Street, so we are perfectly situated to browse all the best shops, restaurants and of course a 'must see' visit to the Cathedral and perhaps take in a show at the stunning new Marlowe Theatre. ... more   less
