Very nice B&B, pleasant owner. The house is charming, both inside and out, Listed building. Breakfast was nice - no porridge but tradition English breakfast and some good vegetarian options. We stayed for one night after returning from the continent. Very nice overall. One caveat - Some reviews mention a damp or cold room. They are referring to room number... More

After touring the UK for 3 months, I can honestly say that we have voted this as being the best B&B that we stayed in. (And we stayed in quite a few) We stayed for 3 nights. It was clean and comfortable and had the most wonderful olde worldy charm about it. I loved the gorgeous breakfast area of our... More

Excellent service, a truly lovely garden, own entrance, comfortable bed... what more could we ask for? We spent a single night in Dover to explore the town, the cliffs and the castle and this was a perfect spot which ticked all our boxes. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend it!

Margaret and John are the most welcoming couple ever. Our stay (along with another couple) was for only one night on 3 May prior to going over on the ferry. We first stayed there 20 years ago when John's mother was running it. I was so pleased that this delightful B&B had not changed. Everything is provided - much the... More

We have been staying overnight here, usually on our way to catch a morning ferry, for many years. Over that time we have never found any of the facilities lacking, and the owner Mrs.Reidy has always been friendly and most helpful to us whatever our needs. On occasions this has included staying open for us until well after 11pm so... More

We love staying at this friendly guest house, the location is perfect to catch a ferry from Dover. We are always made very welcome, the rooms are clean and tidy and well cared for. I love the thick towels! The showers are not the biggest, but do the job very nicely. Breakfast is great and always served on time and... More

We were very disappointed only with the room. It unfortunately smelt damp and mouldy. There was a nice back garden outside but an suite so small with a tiny shower you couldn't even bend over in or stand straight up in.

Once again as the owner I was very sorry that these guests thought the room was not to their requirments, having checked my records the gsadams stayed with us for 2 days and at no point did they bring their concerns to us in order to address the situation for them whilst staying with us. I totally agree we are... More

All I can say is that I was glad to leave this Guest House in the morning, the bed sheets smelt like they had not been washed for a while, not what you want after a 6 hour drive! The room was small and the shower was a joke. This has been well and truly crossed off my list of... More

What can one say to the reviewer Mark C about your disappointing stay here at the Number One Guest house and our family home. It is ashame that you didn't approach us direct with your concerns as it does make it very hard to address them once you have left. We are sorry you thought your room was not to... More

We also had the Garden Room. Although it was not very large it was very well set out and the bed certainly was very comfortable. Had the weather been nicer we could have sat in the very attractive small walled garden. Breakfast was served to us in our room which we enjoyed. Margaret was extremely helpful to us when we... More
