When my wife and I read the reviews on TA, we really thought that at least some of them must have been exaggerated as I think it is quite unheard of to have so many excellent reviews – however we soon found out that they were in fact, spot on! We stayed at the riverside for 4 nights and when... More

This was our first stay at the Riverside but hopefully won't be our last. Dave and Brenda were excellent hosts in every respect, but it is the attention to detail that strikes you the most. The Riverside manages to be spotless and in perfect order and yet totally relaxing at the same time. We used to start talking about the... More

Its difficult to add to what has already been said, setting and view great, Dave and Brenda welcoming and breakfast was excellent with home made breads and locally produced jams. A nice touch was the availability of a glass of wine (which turned into a bottle), which we had in front of the fire. Will definitely return. More

Third visit in about twelve months. Hard to see how this place could be bettered - warm, welcoming, delightful hosts, spotlessly clean, great breakfasts. And in the centre of the best scenery in the UK too. More

We chose Riverside based on TA reviews, and I really can’t add anything more to the well-deserved praise of this b&b - an exceptionally high standard. Dave and Brenda were genuinely nice people and made us very welcome. Dave had excellent local knowledge and was very helpful with suggestions for local walks that were not too taxing for us ‘non-walkers’.... More

Having booked Riverside as a result of the amazing reviews on Trip Advisor I could not help but wonder on the way there that I might end up disappointed; there was no need to have! Dave and Brenda were brilliant hosts, with Dave as front of house and Brenda making sure all guests get the best they have to offer.... More

We have recently returned from our third visit to Riverside and from their warm welcome to our regretful goodbyes, Brenda and Dave could not be faulted. They think of everything to ensure a wonderful stay from torches by the door for the walk back from Ambleside in the dark to offering to fill a flask with coffee (for a small... More

We stayed at riverside in October, this was our third stay in Ambleside and the third B & B we have stayed in and this was by far the best. You are met with a very lovely welcome when you arrive at the Riverside by Brenda and David. The accommodation is very good the rooms are spotlessly clean and comfortable... More

You dont get to be No.1 on TA without a lot of hard effort on the part of an establishment....with Riverside this most definitely shows, from the moment you step through the door 'til the time you leave. You are positively made to feel very welcome by both Dave and his wife Brenda and their attention to detail is second... More
