We have had a lovely comfortable 3 day break at Hillsdale ,great hosts and close to all amenities in Ambleside. Free parking in a secure gated car park a few minutes walk away and once parked we left the car there until the end of our stay. The bus stops are around the corner and a £7 all day ticket... More

Ambleside is the best place to stay in the Lake District. Hillsdale B&B is a very nice, clean B&B in the heart of Ambleside, yet on a quiet street. We have made a reservation in Jun for our first trip to UK. Unfortunately, we need to make some changes to the booking. Though not obliged to, George has accomodated our request on an exception basis. Hillsdale will be our choice for accomodation when we next visit Lake District.

From the moment my girlfriend and I stepped through the door of Hillsdale we were made to feel very welcome. This was our third visit to Ambleside across the previous 7 years and each time we have stayed at Hillsdale. The location of the B&B is perfect as it is less than 2 minutes from the nearest pubs and restaurants which means that it also 2 minutes from the start of most of the guided walks in the hills around...
