Now that the truly unique Millers London has gone it was nice to stay somewhere with a similar feel to it. However, we were chased up the stairs one-evening though to ensure we paid the extra £20 for the changed booking, as if our intention was to sneak out. One night we returned after a meal to find the place... More

This was our second weekend at By Appointment and, again, it was wonderful. The Queen Elizabeth room is perched in the eves and quite higgledy-piggedly, but comfortable and peaceful. The full English breakfast on the first morning was one of the best I've ever tasted - black pudding, mushroom, tomato and fried bread, as well as scrambled and fried egg... More

Me and a friend stayed here for a last minute stay over for a friends birthday it was in the centre of Norwich, a short walk from the cathedral. The room we stayed in was amazing and had 2 chandeliers, lots of quirky victoriana decor and a very snazzy silver tea set for us to make fresh leaf tea! Also... More

We stayed for two night and had dinner on the first night. The food was superb, the service friendly and the Queen Consort room truly palatial. Highly recommended for a weekend treat. Oh, and after we left we had a letter from the owner thanking us for staying which I thought was a very nice touch. More

The other reviewers have detailed the establishment and it's quirkyness. My wife and I stayed in the Queen Consort room which is the largest and grandest and it's the first time we've ever had two chandeliers and about 16 feet to the ridge of the roof over our heads...a very comfy and generous room. What makes "By Appointment" is Robert the owner.He... 4 of us went for a weekend wedding in Norwich and stayed here. Friday night we had an excellent meal and the breakfasts were super. Service quality excellent with a very appreciated touch of humour. Altogether well worth it. More

By Appointment is described as being a restaurant with rooms and that is exactly what it is. It was like staying in the 1920's home of a mad antique collector. We loved it's originality, but if you are into minimalism, it might not be for you. We had the Queen Mary room which was in the attic and it was... More

This is a small and very quirky hotel, but really rather good. The rooms are crammed full of antiques but are very comfortable, clean and very reasonably priced. Entry is via a small garden and through the kitchen, which is a little odd, but again ... quirky. If travelling by car, beware - the archway to access the car park... More

Wow. This restaurant is a gem. Very different. But what a find!!!! We came about 1 year ago and decided to return. I'm so glad we did. The entrance through the kitchen was fun. The two chefs were very polite and the smell of fresh bread, just out of the oven. Was a great start to the evening. The food... More
