Having previously visited the lamb and lion for a drink we decided to treat ourselves to a night over. We had room 7 on the top floor, which was worth the many stairs to be away from the bustle of the bar! The bed was big and comfy with crisp sheets and plenty of space to hang up clothes in... More

The Lamb and lion inn is a quaint little inn with a very relaxing feel. Its staff are extremely helpful and friendly. I visited this hotel for my husband 30th birthday in January 2012. We booked the deluxe room which was very apt for the surroundings of York. The room and bathroom were a very good size plenty room for... More

Had an excellent meal here – you could certainly find cheaper places to eat, but why be disappointed, as we were with another restaurant. The lamb hot pot was absolutely delicious and don't be fooled by the size of the serving dish – it may be small, but it's jam (lamb?!) packed with meat. The place itself is very interesting... More

We have drunk in the pub a couple of times, and noticed a play to be performed in the top parlour. Myself and my colleague decided to book some tickets for our friends and family. Bit disappointed to discover on the only night we could go, the start time was delayed to 9:00pm, but we booked anyway. The start was delayed... More

You must go and see The Christmas Carol on over the next few nights. Absolutely fantastic. Great atmosphere in an intimate setting and fantastic food and company to really get you into the Christmas spirit. Well done everyone! More

We went to stay at the Lamb and Lion Inn for our Anniversary and stayed for 2 nights. When we got there we went to the bar to say we'd arrived and as we arrived early, the member of staff (Jodie I think) went to see if our room was ready. It was and due to all the reviews we... More

My daughter and I stayed at the Marmaduke Hotel in York and were recommended the Lamb and Lion to eat as it is all under the same ownership. The Inn is cosy and we can honestly say that the rump of lamb is one of the best lamb dishes we have ever had. We would certainly recommend this inn for... More

As well as accommodation this is also a pub the used to serve great food. We had Sunay lunch there last week and was a little disappointed. It was obvious the beef was of good quality, however the chef carved the meat the wrong way which made it tough, the veg also had too much salt and pepper on them.... More
