Me and my wife stopped off in the barbican for the night on the way back to Derby from Durham on New Years day, the room are spotless and decorated to high standard. The breakfast was a delight, the positive aspect of the breakfast is that you can selecct from a wide choice the previous night. this prevents food going... More

We stayed at this B&B back in June when visiting York for a 'leave-the-kids-behind' weekend break. The owners were happy to accept a late arrival (c. 10pm) on the Friday night as we were travelling from Sussex by train after work. We were greeted by Adrian, the friendly proprietor, who showed us over the road to our room in the... More

Warm comfortable room, lovely breakfast (particularly the fresh fruit platter), great location overlooking the city walls, Friendly helpful owners, I would certainly stay here again. Drawbacks? - Busy road so some traffic noise and late night revellers passing on their way home. Cheaper booked direct on Barbican House website that through Late Rooms! More

From my first telephone contact with Adrian to book the room it was obvious this was going to be a great place to stay: his friendly and welcomiing demeanour radiated from the phone! We weren't disappointed. The hosts should feel very pleased and proud of the huge number of super reviews Barbican House receives and I'd comfirm without any hesitation... More

I stayed at Barbican House for two nights in november(4th&5th) with my daughter and grandaughter. We all enjoyed the experience, visiting York and our time at the Barbican House very much. When we arrived our hosts gave us a map of the walled York and pointed out many places of interest including restaurants within walking distance, which was most helpful.... More

This was our second visit to Barbican house and both times our family has had a wonderful time. The location - a block from the Walmgate entrance through the city walls - is ideal for walking. Adrian and Ann were welcoming hosts and shared lots of information about the history of the city and things to see and do. The... More

This is our 2nd stay, last one 2008- good as we remembered. Stayed 2 nights. Owners Adrian & Ann away but were well looked after by Nigel & Barbara - Barbican House in safe hands. Room comfy & spotless with view of Minster from our window. Some traffic noise as our room was at front but didn't bother us; we both... More

Barbican House is a great base for visiting the beautiful city of York, being just a short walk away from the walls & the city centre & all its attractions. Ann & Adrian made us both feel extremely welcome in their lovely home. We stayed in Room 1, which was warm, comfortable & spotless with a great en-suite shower room.... More

We have just spent a lovely 3 nights at Barbican House and can recommend it to anyone. We were greeted at the door with a warm welcome from Anne, who gave us restaurant recommendations and a map of York in a leaflet. Both she and her husband Adrian were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Adrian even loaned... More
