We stayed for 2 nights. The beds were short, but comfortable. The breakfast was simple: the choice between continental and English. Not super, but good enough. George was a nice host. When we arrived around 1 pm, he was not there but left a note. He arrived when I called him. The distance to the centre of Oxford can easily... More

We originally booked the ensuite room but upon arrival, realised there was absolutely no light in that room. the window looks towards the wall of the house next door. We asked to switch to a room with a front view window and the host happily agreed, although it wasnt ensuite. Room #4 is GREAT! the bed is one of the... More

Ok where shall I start When we arrived the manger greeted us well. Nice guy! The next morning there was no staff. the website said there was breakfast but there was no sign even though we came down well before nine. My friends room was so cold she could hardly sleep she had to put layers on! Heating would be... More

I had the unfortunate experience of staying in this "guest house." I use the term guest house very loosely. From the moment you pull up outside the property you know that you are not going to be in for a very pleasant experience. The interior of the property is very dated but the biggest dissapointment was the "ensuite" bedroom?? The... More

This is the choice of my wife, but I do not think this is a wise choice.I can park the car in front of the hotel.Hotel near the bus station, and there are a lot of routes bound for Oxford. But if you want to walk to Oxford, I suggest you'd better scrap the whole idea. The landlord is very warm, but... I stayed in the double ensuite room at the Ridings during a research trip to Oxford. Since I didn't know Oxford well, I was a bit apprehensive when I booked the room and realized that it was outside the city center; however, there was no trouble with this at all. A bus stops on the Abingdon Road about one block... More

The Ridings is located 10 minutes or so outside Oxford centre. Fortunately, there is a bus stop only 50 m away and the bus stops many times pr hour. The hostess is FANTASTIC! Very welcoming and helpful. Very extrovert. She runs the guest house pretty much by herself, but she still has time to help you throughout the day. If... More

Ridings turned out to be a good stop. It is located on the main road south of town and it a short bus ride (busses run frequently) or 15 minute walk to center city. I stayed there alone for two nights and took the small room with a shared bath. That was a little risky, but turned out fine. The... More

Bargain priced guest house for what seems to be on offer in Oxford. Very comfortable, & simple, despite us not having private bathroom (this can save you some money, I believe other rooms do). Rooms clean and well serviced and the host was lovely. We didn't get breakfast (extra 7 pounds each per morning) but that was our choice because... More
