5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 May 2013 NEW

I didn't have very high expectations of the Cotswold Lodge (it was about the only place with rooms available in Oxford for the night I needed), but I was very pleasantly surprised. I had a single room, which I normally avoid because they tend to be a bit unloved and sparse. But the Cotswold Lodge was an exception - my... More

Although we were booked in to a standard double, we were then advised it wasn't available and were upgraded to a superior double at no extra cost. The room was palatial! Very big indeed with a very nice en-suite with a shower that worked plus free broadband, an essential feature we look for at hotels now. Nose fluffy towels (not... More

I had asked my assistant to book a room for my business partner and his wife in Oxford. She booked this hotel. We arrived, it looked OK from the outside. We went in and asked about a taxi to heathrow, all dealt with quickly and politely. We asked for the room rate and were told it was £250 per night.... More

We feel that your review is unfair and on the whole, inaccurate. Firstly, the reservation was not made by you and the room was booked for guests that you brought to the hotel. Despite the fact that the room rate had been agreed and prepaid, you took it upon yourself to challenge the reception staff not once (as stated in... More

We had two emergency calls and 7 people ill in our group. The staff was more than prepared...they were kind, calm and caring. Fantastic service. The rooms were comfortable as well, but by far the best part of the stay wad knowing we were in capable hands.

I stayed overnight at Cotswold while on a business visit to nearby Harwell. I found the room cozy and comfortable, and though the lodge it is located on a main road at night it was lovely and quiet, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The bed was very comfy and the facilities in the room were fine for what... More

This hotel is superbly placed for leaving the car locked up and walking your way around Oxford. There is a regular bus service along the main road should you wish. The atmosphere of the hotel is of a Victorian country house. Staff are welcoming and friendly. Arriving at lunchtime we didn't expect our room to be ready but were booked... More

This hotel is in an excellent position, within ten minutes' walk of the centre of Oxford and one minute's walk from the touring bus stop. Parking is free and never appeared to be a problem. The entrance to the hotel is attractive and the lounge downstairs is very cosy and inviting. The bar is very pleasant and charges average hotel... More

We stayed a night at the Cotswold Lodge Hotel. It was billed as a luxury 4 star hotel and so we were surprised how tired and dated our bedroom was, it was very much in need of some TLC. We've stayed in a number of luxury hotels in Oxford and I'm afraid the Cotswold Lodge did not impress us.

Oxford has much to offer architecturally and culturally , so it is important to spend some time there, as we did . A long weekend with two nights at Cotswold Lodge Hotel was just the place, central enough for us to walk every where. However I was slightly disappointed by our very compact room, one of the "Garden rooms", which meant... More

This hotel styles itself as 4 star. It is not but it is a perfectly adequate 3 star hotel, well situated for visiting Oxford so why do the owners feel the need to over-state their status? Unfortunately, with the demise of independent and anonymous inspectors, hotels can award themselves whatever star rating they fancy! We stayed three nights and found... More
