The Hillsborough Hotel is a basic, cheap and decent sort of place, the area around it is particulalrly great but if you have to stay in the area - for example visiting football fans for Sheffield Wednesday - then its not a bad choice if you're looking for something cheap and cheerful. The rooms are basic but decent, but the... More

I had visited here about 10 years ago so knew what to expect but was still frustrated by the difficulty of negotiating the road system to get to the hotel. Room was fine, although location overlooking main road meant that thunder of passing trams was omnipresent. Toilet was an issue with flushing leaving a lot to be desired and damp... More

Don't expect frills here - it's not that kind of place, and it's not in the poshest part of town either. But if you just want a quiet, clean and comfortable room above a friendly pub with excellent and keenly priced food and superb beer (they have their own brewery in the basement) then look no further. Buses and trams... More

I would like to begin by commending the management of the hotel as they have established a very well place. My check in was swift and efficient. The lady at reception was very pleasant and friendly. My stay was short however I would definately stay here again. More

Stopped for a funciton elsewhere in sheffield.. from the outside looks like a generic pub. Inside warm friendly people and cracking homecooked food. Rooms are basic and clean.. but only need somewhere to keep a bag and have a sleep! owners son even gave us a lift when our taxi didnt show!! would definitely stop here again More

The rooms have not changed, basic and simple but still fine and cheap even if prices have gone up. The range of beer is improving all the time, and the quality of it too. I sampled most of the real ales on offer, and slept soundly afterwards! The most noticeable improvement since my last visit in 2008 was the food.... More

Had a large family event recently and as we were a bit packed (and noisy!) at my house my Mum and Gran decided to stay here overnight on two of the nights and they really loved it. I visited them there and the rooms were relatively basic but clean and nicely decorated, they enjoyed the food and they thought the... More

This place is cheap, but not overly cheerful. It is really a pub with rooms. The welcome was OK, but the lad (owner's son, I think) is only 20, and doesn't really get the job yet, I think. Beer from the micro-brewery is great. The room was very basic. Carpet not really clean, inadequate bed covers, bed hard, but not... More

My boss booked this hotel for us to have our annual meeting. This nice bar with a tremendous range of local ales was ideal. We reserved the conservatory for our event and was pleasantly suprised by the hospitality and the free real chips. Breakfast was great and freshly cooked and plentiful and just what we needed after a night sampling... More

Upon arriving at the hotel i was greeted by a not so pleasent receptionist which wasnt the best way to arrive after a 3 hour drive up there. i finally checked into my room which all i can say looked more like a bedroom from a 1 bedroom flat than any other hotel room ive seen, dont even get me...
