I'm not sure why this hotel gets such mixed reviews - it does exactly what it says on the tin. For £65 per night (per room) we got a very clean & comfortable room with free WI-FI, flat screen TV, clean towels every day, free use of a well-equipped, air-conditioned gym/any fitness class/sauna/jacuzzi/pool as well as choice of bar meals... Please ignore the fussy people who dont think this hotel is worth a good review! we stayed here for 1 night for a concert, on arrival we were checked in straight away, no waiting or fuss, the room was big, and the facilities in the room was just what we needed, large comfy bed, tv, no noise and the bathroom... My partner and I stayed in this hotel for 2 nights at the end of April so I could attend a conference at Newcastle University. The rooms were very nice (especially loved the pillows) and spacious. We ate in the hotel's restaurant on the first night - food was good and reasonably priced. Booking is essential as we saw other... More

Hotel as good as ever, we have been staying in Village Hotels happily for years and will continue to do so. BUT bring back the Verve Grill please. Our experience in the Italian restaurant that has replaced it wasn't a good one. In our opinion the menu choices and "set offers" are very confusing, offering limited choice and overpriced. Luckily... More

Thank you for your positive comments about the hotel but its a shame you don't care for our Italian Restaurant as shortly verve grill will be no more! We are currently undergoing a roll out of Vinny & Vito, our new Italian Restaurant concept which will be similar to Buca di Beppo that we have here in Newcastle. Hopefully you... More

it was my friends birthday and she decided to book somewhere local to where we all live for a pizza and a couple of drinks. My first surprise was how expensive the drinks were £4 for a bottle of lager and then to cap it off the barman towards the end of the night tried to overcharge me . The... More

I stay here quite often for work. The staff are great. The rooms are of a v good standard. Breakfast is good. Evening meals are ok but not great and drinks are fairly expensive. They do have promotions on certain nights. The also have live sport shown in the bar. There's always a good atmosphere in the hotel. WiFi is... More

After finding our preferred choice of Newcastle City Centre was not available at our price point, I choose the Village as it was a practical walk away from the Metro. I know the chain from their hotel at Farnborough and this one is similar though not as well served. A comfortable room with swish TV, WiFi, desk space and sockets.... More

Have rated this as average but I think it more upmarket than a premier inn type hotel. Have stayed at de vere village hotels previously and think this one is a bit tired and needs a update especially in the victory pub which I thought was a bit like a wetherspoons. Sticky tables, cheap picnic benches outside just catering for... More

Thank you for your review, apologies for the confusion with your booking, the additional charge for your extra two guests is for breakfast and I hope this was explained to you on check-in. Very spacious bed room, comfortable bed - but ping and zing food ( frozen and then microwaved). We stayed at The Village when we went to an evening meeting at Newcastle Races. We used the local taxi firm suggested by the hotel to get to and from the races. The taxi was half an hour late picking us up from... More
