With the Malmaison using 'hotels that dare to be different' in their marketing, I was expecting the hotel to standout and be slightly unusual. I was disappointed to stay and discover that really the hotel was no different to many other chain hotels. Public areas - the reception was nice, spacious and rather snazzy upon arrival. The only other area... More

The location is great and the staff friendly. Inside it is like time travel back to the gloomy worls of the late 1970's with darkness everywhere, piped music and even leatherette covered pillars. Room was clean and well fitted. Food OK but not excellent.

This hotel is ok for a nights sleep but the room was pretty small. Check in was incredibly slow and I queued for at least 15 mins not something I would expect. The rooms plumbing was incredibly loud. By choice this wouldn't be my first choice of hotels I'm Birmingham.

I had 4 nights at the Malmaison. The room was fine in its layout. An iron and board were provided: good! The air con fan rattled on certain settings. I don't know whether the repair that I asked for was attempted but I learnt to fiddle with it so as to manage a decent night's sleep without having to turn... More

Heard many good things about this hotel and thought would give it a try. Check in was slow with a long line and when I needed to then order a taxi later the phone went unanswered and took 2 attempts to get through. Didn't appear to be a concierge. Plumbing in room 231 was very noisy with gurgling sounds as... More

Having stayed at other malmaison in the past we had high hopes......We booked into the post box suite and our friends into the sorting room. we think the quirky concept of the hotel with the cheeky door hangers etc is great but....the suite was predominantly black which would be fine except black is very unforgiving when decor is worn and... Stayed for the fourth time at the Malmaison in Birmingham just overnight for a business trip. The rooms are always clean however its looking a little dark and tired for todays design taste. The staff were fine apart from a longer than usual wait to check in. Breakfast good but pay when you check in as its a lot cheaper... More

I stayed at the malmaison hotel for only one night but found the location to be excellent. Literally 5 mins walk away from the bull ring. Hotel rooms were nice and fairly modern looking. the staff were good in all different areas from reception to the restaurant and bar. Especially the girl with the short red hair. Very attentive. Breakfast... More

I've stayed in this hotel many times, usually in the suites. The location is great next to many bars, restaurants and shops in the Mailbox Centre and beyond. On this occasion we found the decor of our room disappointing, with chipped paintwork, holes in the furniture, broken locks on the door and a very uncomfortable mattress. The restaurant was good...
