Quite a small hotel which we prefer.Has alot of character for an older hotel unlike some of these newer modern ones. Receptionist's very helpful especially the man as he helped cook the great breakfast for us (help yourselves to as much as you liked)as we were leaving early the next day. Room was lovely and we had 2 balconies 1... More

We stayed 2 nights in April in one of the larger rooms. The location is great for either a walk to town or a trip to the countryside. Hayley Powell , the manager, was helpful and pleasant and answered all our questions. I'm always concerned about cleanliness, and this place passed my test My husband especially enjoyed the full English... More

From the moment I contacted the hotel last year to arrange our school reunion the Manager, Hayley, was helpful and accommodating. The reunion was a huge success due in part to Hayley making sure all our needs were catered for. We arrived in dribs and drabs on the Saturday afternoon and Hayley ran backwards and forwards serving drinks and checking... More

We were staying at this hotel to attend a family event. From the moment we arrived (early) to the time we departed, the staff went out of their ways to be helpful. We got to breakfast late and the chef cooked fresh eggs for us. They stored out luggage so we could collect later. We had elderly relatives with us... More

I've read the other reviews and to be honest it's a matter of taste. We liked the quirky decor but we saw evidence of an ongoing upgrade program of decoration and from the posted pictures our room has been updated. Room was small be adequate (even with a travel cot) bathroom clean and functional. Car park ample and well lit.... More

I stayed at the Elva Lodge for a business trip and I always seek the positives wherever I stay. The staff were very helpful both on my arrival and throughout my stay. You'll find ample parking within the grounds of the hotel which is always a plus point. The room was small and clean; but the shower cubicle was at... More

Stayed for two nights. The staff were very helpful and friendly, however the decor is dated, and noise travels in this building, so not one for the light sleeper. At first the glance the menu had a good selection, but one meal was over cooked and bland and the other under cooked and greasy. There was a good selection at... More

We came for a party, wonderful staff, couldnt do enough for us,the food however was nothing special for what was paid almost £50 a head and they ran out! Drink for toasts was awful,i noticed a lot of full glasses. The tables were nicely decorated, layout however wasnt, too many tables, perhaps just use 1 room. The decor sadly reminded me of an... More

We stayed over five days in the middle of October travelling down from Glasgow, by the number of people at breakfast it cant have been a full hotel (we stayed Sun - Fri) but none the less the breakfst was well presented, fresh and helpful staff on hand to make sure we had everything we wanted. The hotel itself is... More

The layout of this hotel still confuses me!!! I've stayed there and the staff are great (it's a family run hotel) the rooms are basic to say the least with very, very tired looking decor. it's a real shame because as some other users have stated it is really quirky. If they spent some money on the main rooms and... More
