We've had an absolutely brilliant stay here. Our dog-friendly room had came with comfy baskets and separate bowls for our dogs (very welcoming), our room was beautiful - spacious, clean and comfy. The food was excellent (freshly squeezed OJ on tap at breakfast was a treat!), and the staff always really friendly and helpful.

I've eaten twice at the Angel and was stuck both times by the levels of service. Attentive and friendly and genuine, not forced. The Oak Room is beautifully decorated and has a great atmosphere. Its large but intimate. It has a presence which takes the whole experience up a notch. We were four and had the lamb or the steak,... More

We made a table reservation for the restaurant well in advance of our special occasion. At no time during the booking was any inference made regarding possible seating issues. All was well, or so be believed. We arrived on the day (Saturday 1st June) to find that seating was not available in the restaurant because it was being used by... More

We always go here for morning coffee, or breakfast. Really great service and lovely staff. The food is good value with amazing bacon rolls with meat from the butcher up the road. They were willing to share that information so we were able to get some to taken home. Will be returning soon .

Nice room, lovely, varied breakfast choice and extremely friendly serving staff. A very pleasant stay. The only negative thing I could say was that we could hear traffic and noisy revellers outside throughout the night, so I would ask for a room to the back of the hotel, rather than to the side. We stayed in room 4. I plan... More

We had booked a standard double room at The Angel but on arrival were told that we had been upgraded to the Castle Cottage. The cottage is to the rear of the hotel just opposite the hotel car park so very convenient to take luggage to and also keep an eye on the car. The cottage description on the website... More

Had a nice two night stay here. Staff was friendly, especially the young guy at the front desk (forgot his name). Breakfast, tea, and dinner were all very good. We had the package that included the limited prix fixe dinner and tea and they were very accommodating with substitutions for my pregnant wife. Our deluxe room overlooked the street and I... More

We stayed for one night as we were attending the Hay Festival (which is about a 25 minute drive away). We were highly impressed with this hotel. We stayed in a superior room and my parents were upgraded to the cottage just outside the grounds. The staff at the hotel were all very friendly, it is spotlessly clean, and the... More

Upon arrival we were upgraded to a deluxe room. The room was large, immaculate and well appointed. The staff are very efficient and friendly. The breakfast was the best hotel breakfast I have had in years. Highly recommended we will return!

This is a classy place. It is a very old building which has been refurbished to give modern convenience without robbing it of its old world character. The staff were wonderfully friendly at reception, in the restaurant and in the bar. there could just be a wee bit more cheer from the breakfast staff, but I am perhaps hair splitting.... More
