The stables lodges is a annex of the Royal oak hotel. The family room is spacious, 1 king bed and a double sofa bed. Nice decoration, good mattress, clean sheets. The bathroom is a bit small. If you stay with your family and you want to be very quiet, ask for a room very far of the pub because it's... More

As the Stables Lodge is part of the Royal Oak hotel I was half expecting this accommodation to be a poor 'walkers' wing i.e. the grubby little sister of the posh hotel - fortunately it is far from that; Apparently these rooms have been refurbished recently, and there was certainly little to complain about when we stayed in April 2013.... I visited at Easter 2013 with my young son. The set-up for walkers and outdoor-types is fantastic. The food in the pub is great value and the pub itself is very friendly with the extra touches to make it cosy. Warm sheepskin rugs in the outdoor seating area and patio heaters created a lovely opportunity to eat in the open... More

This is a good place to stay if you are exploring the north Wales inland area. Reasonable price -they charge by the room- clean and in a beautiful place right in the heart of this delightful small town. It has its own railway too with connections to the mainlines; much better than using the car we thought. There is a... More

When visiting places like Betws-y-coed, why spend £150 per night at a big chain, when you can get a clean bed/room/bathroom & breakfast for two for £75. We visited during the XMAS Festival, so checkin was a bit clunky and slow, but we didnt care, we could listen to the carol singers. Checkout is easy, drop the key in the... More

Fantastic staff ~ very friendly and helpful. Family room was poor ~ tired and shabby and not cleaned to a very high standard. The children slept on a sofa bed which was well worn, saggy in the middle and overall rather uncomfortable. Welsh breakfast at £9. per head was way too expensive. This was not buffet style, so you have... More

This hotel has to be in one of the most scenic areas in Wales. We have often stoped here for evening meals whilst on route to Holyhead so this time decided to spend a night here. We found our stay a big let down. I did at the time of booking tried to book into the main part of the... More

Very clean accommodation in the centre of Betws-y-coed with walkers and cyclists well catered for. Would have liked breakfast included but chose to cater for ourselves, though still paid £85 for a family room. Would go back as superb location for eating and relaxing in the evening.

We have been staying at the stables two to three times per year for nearly 6 years and the prices are increased every year by £5.00 per room per night. The suggestion of €67.00 average per room is incorrect. There are firm costs of £80 or £85 per room per night with no breakfast. The cost for our family of... More
