The room was comfortable and quite well-appointed with a large bed. I liked the pillows being labelled for texture. Problems: Food was not very good, either dinner or breakfast. Also the heating in my room was impossible to control. More

Reading the website this seems to be a lovely positioned hotel in woodland but beyond that the experience goes down hill I'm afraid. As a frequent traveller this is ok for a one night stopover as just off the main motorway. The room was clean and presentable but the food, both evening and breakfast, was below average and somewhat "tired"... More

As a business traveller I've stayed in quite a few hotels and many of them have been Holiday Inn or Holiday Inn Express. This one took dire to a whole new level, offhand staff on reception, buckets in the dining room because of the leaky roof, the worst food ever. Room cold, bed wasn't made properly on second day and... More

As a platinum priority club member I'm supposedly guaranteed a room upgrade, didn't happen as they said no rooms available even though plenty available when I booked my room, heating not working, food not particularly enjoyable, the Creme brûlée was inedible, wifi code didn't work so numerous trips back to the reception, when I finally got a code to work... The alarm bells started ringing as soon as I pulled in to the car park and took one look at the building. It looks old and dated from first impressions. Sometimes though external appearances can be deceptive, but sadly, not in this instance. Check-in was poor. Took 10 minutes to find my reservation, despite being a Priority Club member. I... More

stayed here on business, attending a conference at Celtic Manor. On first appearance, the building looks like a 1970's secondary school, albeit a mature quiet wooded setting given its proximity to the motorway. Internally, the theme continues. The use of many split levels in this ageing building is overcome by a disease of ramps. The rooms ,whilst well kept and... More

As my preferred hotel in Newport we fully book I had to stay one night at Holiday Inn. The standard did not meet my expectation for a Holiday Inn hotel. The rooms feels outdated. Back to the 80s. As I arrived late in the evening I had a meal in the bar. The menu was very uninteresting. But the breakfast... More

Stayed here for one night on business. The staff were polite and helpful. The room was well equipped and comfortable, if a bit tired. My room was on the ground floor near the entrance - not a great location as near to where taxis pull up. A very typical Holiday Inn - it does the basics well - comfortable bed,... More

my daughter got married here on 7/10/11 and everyone had a wonderful time. We booked one of their wedding packages and the whole expeience was more than satisfactory. From meeting the wedding planner up to breakfast for us all the morning after I cannot thank the staff enough. The rooms for the ceremony, the reception and the evening disco were... More
