I stayed here with my girlfriend back in August 2012 during our Scotland road trip, we spent two nights in the MacDonald room which had a very comfortable four poster bed. We arrived as Julie the owner was out but we had already made arrangements with getting to the room and had no problems getting in. Once inside the room... More

We stopped at Briarbank just for the one night, and we were made extremely welcome. The room we stopped in (which had a four poster bed) was excellent, with a lot of little thoughtful touches. I especially liked the fact that Julie brought us each a whisky to help us settle in and relax! Breakfast is fantastic! We both went... More

We spent one night here on our way north to Bettyhill. Julie could not have been a better host. She gave us a warm welcome and came to the car to help us with our gear. The rooms were very well equipped and comfortable with complimentary bottled water, fresh milk and cafetiere facilities in addition to the usual. Julie also... More

My Husband & I spent 2 nights here at the end of Sept. Though we reached 30 mins earlier, Julie was indeed a very warm and honest host with LOTS of local knowledge. Even if you come to Oban clueless she will be very willing to give u a lot of options depending on your tastes & preferences. I like... More

We spent two nights at Briarbank at end of Aug. Were really impressed by the complete package but especially the quality of the room, range of toiletries, proper tea, coffee and milk in the min fridge, four poster bed and the welcome given by Julie & Bob. They could not have been more helpful, pleasant or accommodating. A wee dram... More

Although we arrived late, Briarbanks gave us a very warm welcome. By then we already had climbed (and cursed!) the very steep stairs to the house but got immediately reconciled with the location by finding a clean and comfortable room with lots of extras like bath robes and really thick towels. The rooms come with a thick folder of local... More

Yes there are lots of steps till you eventually reach Briarbank but Julie and Bob are very welcoming and their extra touches make the climb worthwhile. We liked the free whisky each night, the bathrobes, extensive range of free toiletries and ground coffee (as opposed to the instant stuff most other B&B's provide). We also appreciated their helpful advice on... More

Although their website warns of the many steep steps from the private guest parking space to the front door of Briarbank, they were still a shock on our arrival. Despite the many "extras" provided by our hosts, we found this B& B to be very cramped for space in our bedroom, in the tiny dining room and in the tiny... More

Julie and Robert have thought of everything to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable. So many lovely touches in our room from bottled water to a glass of Scotch each evening and the breakfast was delicious each morning. Julie and Robert are so friendly and helpful and make you feel at home from the moment you arrive. We stayed in... More

We were two couples on our way to the Isles...and we were so grateful for all the attention we received: very comfortable and welcoming...and a lovely comprehensive breakfast on top. An ideal place to stay as part of a trip (as long as you are relatively able bodied to climb up the front approach to the house)...and to sample Oban... More
