Well I am ashamed after reading the plethora of excellent reviews for 2012 to date and it is only February not to have written a review before. I notice a lot the of reviews below are from new visitors but my husband and I first stayed in the Old Waverley in October 2005 for the weekend to celebrate his birthday... More

We have just come back from a two night stay in The Old Waverley Hotel we were given exceptional service. The location was fantastic and the rooms spacious very clean and comfortable. It was noisy outside due to a lot of work being done (nothing to do with the hotel) a set of earplugs was all we needed for a... More

Many thanks to this kind reviewer for their wonderful comments about our service and our food. The whole team were thrilled to read this review and we look forward to welcoming you back to the Old Waverley hotel very soon. Do note that the Tramworks outside will only continue for a few short months and then will cease permanently. Leon... More

I spent three nights in the Old Waverley Hotel and could not have found better. The location was superb close to the train, buses and tourist sites. Our room was decently sized and well looked after. The restaurant and bar offered great food and the hotel allowed us to leave luggage for the day after check out. Staff were friendly... More

I turned up really early and they were kind enough to let me into the room earlier as well. The room was very comfortable, warm and clean. I will definately use them again as the price is very good bearling in mind that you are in the centre of Edinburgh. More

I am glad we were able to accommodate this guest with an early check in and my thanks to them for their kind words about the Old Waverley. I would urge all future travellers to note that we operate only to serve and will not stick to rigid check in times just for the sake of it. If we have... More

I have just come back from a fantastic break in Edinburgh with my Mum and my Aunt (both in their 60's). Edinburgh is beautiful and staying in this hotel made it even better. Location is perfect for getting around to almost anywhere and the staff couldn't do enough for you. Room was clean and tidy, very warm (windows to open... More

Another superb review and my sincere thanks to this guest. I am glad you enjoyed your time in Edinburgh and I emphasise with your frustration over the size of our lift. We have looked at the lift situation countless times, but, as the guest mentions, we are severely restricted with what we can do by both the listed nature and... More

We have just returned from our first visit to Edinburgh [January 2012], and our choice of hotel was excellent. The restaurant was first class and, the staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was very nice, but could have done with a bit more draw space, the bathroom was well decorated and the extractor fan wasn’t noisy like some... More

My gratitiude to this review for such positive comments about the Old Waverley and, more importantly, its service. I note that whilst every aspect of the hotel was satisfactory, there was concerns about the smell from the Lush shop next door. Although many of our guests do comment on how wonderful the smell is, I realise it does divide opinion... More

This hotel is one of the best I have ever stayed in - great value for money - spotlessly clean our bedroom was very comfortable with a great view over Princes Street - the staff were brilliant could not do enough for you definately had the personal touch which is missed at many of the chain hotels these days. I am deeply gratified to receive such high praise on behalf of the team. That personal touch described is at the very heart of The Edinburgh Collection (and the Old Waverley) and it is truly heartening to hear this so kindly acknowledged. Leon Kiteley General Manager More

I have had two seperate overnight stays at The Old Waverly Hotel in December 2011 and January 2012 for theatre trips (easy walking distance to the Playhouse) and found it to be excellent value for money. On the first occasion we stayed in an internal room which did not have a view - for an overnight stay this room was... More

I am grateful to this reviewer for their positive comments about our housekeeping and breakfast offering and I am always glad to see the phrase "value for money" so prominent in any review. There is a slightly quiter aspect to the rooms at the rear of the hotel as mentioned by this guest, but then again at the front of... More

Ideally situated on Princes street. We were on the 6th floor which has tiny round windows and a sloping ceiling. It also had a tiny narrow bathroom which a larger person would not fit into. There was only one small hand towel for two of us and I think that cheap throwaway glasses are not good enough in a modern... More

Very clean with very good staff. Rooms on the sixth floor, with porthole windows and sloping roofs, have very, very small bathrooms. The hotel is let down by the provision of plastic glasses in the bathroom, the provision of only one small towel, and there is no bath mat provided. Little things like having enough hooks and gliders so that... More

Another wonderful review with excellent feedback again for our staff and Housekeeping but please note that due to the nature of the building - over 160 years old - there is a wonderful mix of room and bathrooms sizes throughout the hotel. Note to all future guests - you must try our breakfast which is one of the finest in... More
