OK, I don't usually write reviews but I felt I had to set the record straight. We were looking for somewhere new to go for a nice valentines meal! We came across the Hawes Inn on-line and everything looked lovely, THEN when we read some of the reviews we started to have second thoughts. However we do like to make... More

We had a beautiful weekend here in mid December (in Edinburgh to do our Xmas shopping) and enjoyed it so much we came back a month later. Even in January it is busy, which probably reflects how good the food and staff are. The lady at breakfast remembered us, we felt like we were genuinely welcome, and ate far too... More

Rooms are a bit dated, but there was some evidence of works while we were there. The food is good, cask ales and all, and the location and price more than make up for any quirky facilities. More

Stayed on night mid january in room 6, overlooking the bridge. great location, slight train noise at night though. Innkeepers lodge who own the place do some great deals so sign up through their site. We were very happy with ours. THe bonus was the staff who were fantastically friendly and helpful. Its nice to see people enjoying their jobs.... More

Even before we checked in we knew this was going to be a good choice. The weather was awful but the welcome was warm and welcoming. We had room 6 - warm and well furnished - with lovely views of the water and bridges. Breakfast was well presented - tea and coffee served at the table, not help yourself as... More

This is a stunning location - like something out of a film. We were in room 7, with a wonderful view of the Firth and the two bridges. The whole atmosphere of the place is very appealing. It's old-world without being shabby, and there's a real sense of history. How many hotels have a view as good as this? Fantastic... More

I have just read some negative reviews before re-booking and feel I must respond. We left our son at the University and no more than 15 minutes later found ourselves in this fantastic location. I cannot fault the friendly service or the quality of the food and, considering the high customer turnover, the location is to die for and surprisingly... More

Loved our two night stay at this lodge, we were allocated room 6, perfect little room, quaint, comfortable and suited all of our needs. Great outlook from window's in room, great view of the two bridges and loved the fact that you could see and hear the trains. South Queensferry had enough choice of eateries and little pubs and within... More

Having visited the hawes in march this year I decided to return to have a meal before Christmas. When entering the hawes we were slightly dissapointed to find the fireplace was not being used and had been replaced by an electric fire, however our waiter (Scott, tall with short hair) explained that it was being repaired and that it would... Stayed here quite a few times earlier this year whilst on my weekly business trips to the region. Usually stayed at business class hotels such as Marriott and the unusual Dakota just up the road. This is a pub with an emphasis on food but the rooms are fine also and have WiFi. The best bit, and the main reason... More
