I had the need for somewhere to lay my head in the city centre between an evening meeting and catching an early train to London, so I booked a single room with a shared bathroom at Adelaides. The guest house is in part of a city centre baptist church in an excellent and impressive building on the corner of Pitt... More

This rather centrally located – near the Glasgow School of Art – 8 room guesthouse has credentials I've never encountered before. It is a guest house, a childcare center, a hireable auditorium, and a Baptist Church. These combine to give it a certain eccentric charm. It has sound-dampening, thick fire doors, so one is hardly aware of screeching children, church... More

The guesthouse was quite centrally located and very easy to find. One could walk to all the major sites conveniently. Around the guesthouse were many bars, cafes, and restaurants (although finding breakfast proved to be challenge on a Sunday morning). Due to its locating on a street full of bars and restaurants, the noise from the street might persist well... More

Friendly and comfortable are my two ways of describing Adelaides. As an older woman travelling alone, I can think of no better place to stay. My room was comfortable and supplied everything I need. The breakfast room and food provided are excellent. Above all, the staff are extremely friendly and always willing to take trouble in response to a request.... More

Staff are all exceptionally friendly and welcoming. On expressing some disappointment at the first room allocated, the gentleman on reception went the 'second mile' to find a room to our satisfaction. Breakfast was first class and served in a very friendly cheerful atmosphere. Found the accommodation very plain and a bit 'tired' and, without a lift, challenging for less mobile... More

The accommodation itself is beautiful. My room had a skylight and ensuite bathroom, was very clean, and very quiet. But what really makes this place great to stay is the staff. I was greeted in the mornings by Ted, who tended to have a weather report, travel tips, and sometimes a news story for me. Gerry in the kitchen was... More

Traveling alone and in Glasgow for the first time I booked two nights at Adelaide's. I'm so glad I did. Ted, the proprietor, was so very friendly and helpful, my room was small but clean, well-appointed, and quiet. Breakfast was great (and the cook was as friendly and chatty as Ted). Location was great for access to the city center... More

From the moment you enter Adelaides you are treated with genuine friendliness. I was lucky travelling alone, usually difficult to book anywhere, I got 3 nights for £74!!! Room small but warm and cosy. Breakfast served by another friendly member of staff. Nothing too much for any one. There is even an auditorium if you want to put on a... More

When I arrived at 13:00pm off the coach I wanted to drop by bag off ready to explore the city before check in. But It was a pleasant surprise to be given the room early. The room was warm, the bed was comfy and the room facilities were good. I must admit I did not really spend much time in... More

Our first visit to Adelaides and we were not disappointed. From the initial telephone booking, to our departure, the reception we received could not have been better. What a refreshing change to stay at a place where all the staff we met were very helpful, warm and welcoming - despite the fact that the Reception area was being decorated, we... More
