I arrived at the Castle Arms at the end of a long Lands End to John o' Groats cycle ride and was immediately warmly welcomed by Jean. I felt like I was walking into my local, not a place 500 miles away! I soon met Bill and we shared a drink and a chat. The owners are extremely friendly and... More

When you first pull in to the castle arms you feel like you have arrived at a lovely wee place, warm interior and lovely new furnishings. Clearly undergone and undergoing investment, nicely done and in keeping with the fantastic building. Beautiful new bathroom, fantastic fluffy white bath sheets and new crisp bedding, only comment..... would benifit from a new hair... More

I must also add the lighting is now perfect on my previous visit I thought the lighting was a... More

Well worth a visit if exploring this area. Very warm welcome even though we arrived about 1pm. Room cosy and electric blanket already on! Plenty of biscuits, tea and coffee [ and teapot] in the room. Food was delicious and especially enjoyed the 'scottish' breakfasts. The party on New Years Eve with locals and visiters, was great fun. We hope to... More

After having seen a spread for the Hotel in the local paper, myself and my parents decided to go out for a meal. We were warmly greeting by the owner and seated at our table. The bar area is very cosy and the newly refurbished dinning room is nice, but maybe a touch on the bright side, softer lighting wouldnt... More

Stopped here for one night and loved the experience. Everybody, made me feel extremely welcome, despite being on my own. The food is some of the best i've ever had. Compliment's to the chef. No complaints with the room, which is large enough with all mod cons and a brand new mattress on bed. Even has wifi in the bar... More

I stayed in the Castle Arms with my family for a three nights after completing the Deloitte Ride Across Britain. John O'Groats (in fact the whole area) is not overly imbued with fancy hotels and restaurants. This is not the Lake District or Cornwall. The Castle Arms was perfect. Sure, its basic - but thats the way it is up... More
