This hotel is allegedly No 1 in Wick, Scotland. Perhaps this is because there are only three hotels in town ! We stayed in this hotel not by choice, but because another luxury B&B which we'd booked online had been double booked -- and the owners quite decently offered at very short notice to book us into another place. My daughter and I spent a night at this 'quaint' hotel on the shortest street. Check in was quick and welcoming. We were given a room which overlooked the river (thanks) as we had actually booked one on the street side. Thankfully there was a lift (antiquainted) but perfectly workable to take us to our comfortable rooms. Our only criticism... More

Dear Jennifer R Thank you for your review and please accept our apologies for the time taken in the Bistro. We are changing the hairdryers in all the rooms over the next few months, totally agree with your daughter! We are glad you enjoyed our food and hospitality, do come back and visit us again, remind me about the hairdryer... More

Use this hotel for a lot of my visits to the Wick area, mainly through work related. Can't praise this hotel enough. Excellent food very friendly and helpful staff. Rooms very comfortable. There seems never to be a problem when asking for an item, ask and it's there. As far as fitness items are concerned you can use the local... More

My partner and I stayed in this hotel at the weekend, and had a really nice time. We arrived on Friday and we were greeted with a warm welcome as soon as we arrived. The check in process was quick and easy, and we were taken through the hall and directed to our room. We were also advised to book... More

Lovely old building with decent street parking and a welcoming reception area. Incredibly friendly staff. We did a deal at just under £150 DB&B. Past reception, the Public areas are nicely presented and clean. The lift is ancient, but does have a safety system, so assume HSE approve. It could be a feature if it were tidied up inside: peeling... More

Dear DewinDwl I am sorry you felt our rooms did not meet your needs. Refurbishing rooms is an ongoing process for our hotel, the room you and your wife occupied is on the plan for 2013/14. We are not in the position of being able to shut the whole hotel to refurbish every room at the same time. You saw... More

Spent four days at this excellent hotel. Our room was comfortable and spacious with a very modern en suite. The owners and staff couldn't do enough for us and as my husband is disabled, they did everything to make us feel comfortable. The food cannot be faulted, every meal was delicious. Well worth a visit.

This has to be the the warmest welcome and best staff in Scotland. The food is exceptional and very reasonably priced; rooms are clean and very comfortable, well worth a visist and such a nice part of Scotland.

Stayed here over Easter with our children. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the food was lovely. We did a tour of John O'Groats and a lovely scenic drive round the north tip of Scotland. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

Lovely friendly hotel. Comfortable well- appointed rooms and attentive staff, with a delicious breakfast on offer. My only gripe is that the morning coffee was rather weak, but I heard that the coffee machine is broken. Please get it fixed soon - looming forward to staying again.

This is a comfortable albeit a wee bit old-fashioned hotel in the heart of Wick in the Caithness region of the Scottish Highlands. There is easy (if limited) parking right outside the hotel. The hotel is in an oddly-shaped, old Victorian building that reminded me of the Flat Iron Building in New York. Two giant teddy bears greet you in... More
