Location wise you cannot beat the Pitlochry Backpackers as you literally walk out the front door onto the street with all the main shops on either side and opposite you including the main train station. The staff were very friendly and helpful at all times, we found the private twin room that we had to be spacious, clean and very... More

I stayed here for 2 nights on a trip round the Highlands. Great welcome from the staff probably one of the best i have ever received anywhere on my travels!:) The hostel is great with lovely rooms and the standard of cleanliness puts many other hostels to shame. Great area for walking with lots of short and long walks. The... More

This was my second visit here, on this occasion for one night before walking to Blair Atholl and I'll stay again if I'm doing any walking in the area. There's plenty of information, free pool and hot drinks and it's on the main street near the station so a good location. It is a backpackers hotel so the rooms are... More

We stayed here for two nights, booked a double ensuite room and it cost £50 per night. Its a nice hostel, good atmosphere and very much as you would expect from a hostel. The lounge is cosy and spacious and the kitchen is well equiped. I think it was over priced as I recently stayed in the Dundee backpackers and... More

We stayed here as a couple in a double room with private ensuite. We booked it only the night before arrival so paid £50 but was still the cheapest in town (&only available!) But... The guy at reception (forget his name...) was extremely helpful! Definatley ask him for advice about what to do in the local area. The room was... More

Stopped here on a cycling trip recently and whilst i wasn't expecting much the rooms are quite basic and the beds most uncomfortable and built for dwarfs. There were quite a few around the night we were there and the lounge is decent with a pool table, music and plenty of space to relax but main thing one needs is... More

The area is also dotted with distilleries, castles and ancient standing stones all within easy reach. Perthshire is also a big centre for adventure activities, including white-water rafting, canoeing, bungee jumping, mountain biking, canoeing etc if you're up for it - or simply get your boots on and get exploring - there are some fantastic trails. The Pitlochry staff are a friendly bunch who know the surrounding area like the backs of their hands and are willing to help so don't be shy!
