I booked 5 twin rooms in this hell hole. Turned up and it took them 2 hours to tell us we wasnt booked in and that they had no other rooms and the whole of Manchester was fully booked. All 10 of us (stag do) were left stranded. Had an argument and threats made against us by the landlord, people... More

Surly unprofessional attitude of most staff .. acted as if they could not care less .. not advised that tea/coffee fixings were available, or where until late on last night of our stay .. and only because we asked if we could borrow a kettle or if they could fill our thermos with hot water .. asked to pay cash... Booked and paid in full....arrived told not booked in there but at Citi Park....arrived there no record of our booking.....photos are nothing like either hotel. Dirty, smelly, unkept, they both resembled hostels for the homeless and to be honest that is been kind. Reception areas dark and uninviting, dubious characters walking round the grounds of Citi Mansions and youths playing... More

The photos of this hotel posted on this and other sites give a false impression - the downstairs area is certainly like that but the rooms are rather tatty and for the price you would expect them to be ensuite and to include breakfast (this is an extra £7!). Also the 'satellite' TV only runs to the basic 5 terrestrial... More

I simply booked online two double rooms for June 2008, months in advance. Now for a start the area is run down and eerie, but we were well prepared for this as we stayed in the same hotel in 2006 when it was named the ‘Travellers Retreat’ and was therefore under different management. The area was then compensated for by... More

This is the worst hotel ever... the pictures that you see on the website are the only two rooms that have been refurbed and the rest of it is a disgrace. There are electric cables running on the outside of the walls, the main bedrooms in the photographs have glass doors with an ill fitting roller blind so you can... More

Don't be misguided by the photo's on the website they are obviously not the same place! A very dodgy area and the worst customer service i have ever experienced. If you want to sleep in a less than adequate place, share a bathroom with the rest of the guests on your corridor, be verbally abused by the manager when you... More

My boyfriend and I stayed here when we went for a night out in manchester and we loved it! Very easy to find, on a quiet street and plenty of places to park. The manager/owner was very friendly. I was expecting a small, cramped room as pictures on the website suggested but i was more than pleasently supprised. The reality... More

This hotel is not the nice place it seems on the website. It turned out t o b e in a very ropey area with psychotherapy unit accross the street which felt slightly scary. The room we was given had a fault yale lock that they said could not be repaired so therefore we could not keep our possessions in... More

I am writing regarding few bad reviews this place had in the past and a few of those good ones. Our hotel has recently been refurbished, the management has changed as well as our name (it was previously called "Travellers Retreat"). Also, lot of new policies were implemented to ensure sustainable quality of service. Unfortunately, I cannot take responsibility for... More
