This is definitely a cheap and cheerful hotel. It has been recently re-decorated. The location is excellent (right in the city centre), just beware you will need to pay for parking but that's the case anywhere in the centre of Bordeaux. Our main gripe was that our room is directly opposite the breakfast room making it very noisy during serving... More

Stayed here in May for 2 nights, excellent location, very close to shops and restaurants - room was adequate - small and plain but you get what you paid for. Staff didn't speak much english - and internet was down for the 3 days i was there which was a pain but didn't matter too much. For what we paid... More

This is a wonderful tourist hotel ideally located close to all the main attractions in the city centre near some fantastic public spaces and buzzing bars, cafes and restaurants. While it is by no means a luxurious proposition, it is clean and well-run and represents very good value for quite an expensive town. Unpretentious and basic. Bed was comfortable and... More

This is a standard and fairly typical basich tourist hotel.Rooms are small, but clean. There was only one A/C outlet in the entire room. Tiny but well functioning lavatory/shower room. The rating is brought up by one notch due to friendly and very helpful staff, limited to one hall receptionist at all times. OK, standard continental breakfast in 1st floor... More

The hotel is steps away from a tram stop and close to many of the pedestrianised streets in central Bordeaux. This means it is close to shops, restaurants and tourist attractions. I was a bit hesitant as there have been some negative or ordinary views, but I thought it was reasonable for the price. The room - yes it is... More

Basically you can divide hotels into two categories: there are those where you stay for the ambi ence, the character, the experience and therefore expect a high standard of decoration, food, comfort and some added extras. Others, like the Hotel Gambetta, are essentially providing a box to sleep in and as long as they are not overpriced it seems unfair... More

Good location in centre but Bordeaux's tram means its easy to access anywhere so no need to pay the premium for this over priced, poor service hotel. ( our room: no air con, no view, dreary and tiny). On our second visit stayed at the Etap opposite the train station (cheaper and cheerier) with a 10 minute tram to the... More

I stayed in this hotel in April and the weather was cloudy/rainy with temperatures averaging 12ºC (53.6F). Positive: - Location. The hotel is very well located in one of the most important streets in Bordeaux at walking distance to every major sightseeing points in the city and with lots of cafés, wine bars, pubs and restaurants nearby. This, together with... More

Firstly I would point out that this is the second time we have stayed at his hotel. the first time 5 years ago we had a top floor room which was large but very basic. We know that since then it has been refurbished so were willing to try it again. We booked through agodo and got a very good... More

Nicely decorated with 24hr receptionist, not too chic, not a dump either, good rates, CNN and BBC news programmes on TV and Wifi - which many still don't have in Bordeaux. Very central, next to tram station, very friendly and helpful staff and decent toiletries and even hair dryer in bathroom. A little gem.
