Hostel Buelta is no fancy place but for my only night in Madrid it was perfect- it was cheap, 5 mins away from the train station, 1 minute away from the metro station and 2 stops away from SOL! “Good for travellers / students short of money.”

Suggested by a friend. I've spent one night. If you travel short of funds, avoid luxury and like being in the historic area...perfect. Though outdated, it's clean and functional. Magnificent location. Transports, culture, tapas, parks and great discos a few steps away. Adequate for low budget travellers or students.
