The positive: Clean, cosy, quiet, comfortable bed, excellent rooftop terrace, 5 min walk from the charm of Trastevere's restaurants and bars, simple breakfast with good coffee(easy start:-)and welcoming personell. And- I like things simple and not posh. Down side: small rooms. But ,hey, your'e not in Rome to dance in your room, are you? It's a place to put your... More

We had 4 nights in this hotel. While it was adequate, we wished we'd spent more money for better accom. The air con was incredibly noisy and the heat in August that week required it's use consistently. Rooms are fine as are the bathroom facilities - but they are old and rundown. Clean and comfortable but only adequate. Small rooms... More

I decided to organise my first trip to Rome last month as a dream finally becoming true.. after a bit of search i discovered this lovely hotel in a perfect central location which allowed me to basically walk to my favourite historical attractions.. I was so amazed at the lovely assistance by the staff, who showed me my room and... More

Me and my husband went to Rome for a weekend and spent a lovely time in this fantastic city. We choose the right hotel to have our second and short honey moon. situated in the middle of the city , in one of the best neighborhoods that I never see. So intimate, confortable and cozy. For sure we will lodge... More

I stayed at the Carmel Hotel 2 of my 5 nights in Rome. While I loved Trastevere and wished I had stayed there the entire time, I found the hotel to be just adequate. There was nothing bad about it, but relative to my other Roman hotel and other lodging in Florence and Venice, I thought the quality relative to... More

I was so disappointed with this hotel after choosing it based on reviews on Tripadvisor. I had booked ( and paid for) a double room but was allocated a shabby single room next to the breakfast room and adjacent to the kitchen. There was only one curtain on the window, which was hanging off the rail. No idea what happened... More

The room was small and the bathroom tiny, barely room to turn around in. But it was clean and comfortable and the breakfast room was charming. The cornflakes however tasted a bit stale. Located near a street with some fun shops and lots of public transportation but not too near the city center or the Jewish ghetto (relevant for Jewish... More

Locanda Carmel was amazing. The rooms were on the small side, but completely adequate. The room that opens to the terrace was very large. All rooms were immaculate. (our group had 4 rooms rented) The terrace was lovely---a great way to enjoy the early morning and evening---and free wi-fi to boot. BEST PART: The staff were all helpful---carried all our... More

Great value, OK location, clean rooms. Don't expect it to be luxurious - it is a "1 star hotel" after all. But it's got everything you need (including free wifi - albeit in the lounge + dining room), and nicer than a lot of 3 star hotels I've seen.

A pretty basic hotel but in a good location within walking distance of everything there is to see in Rome, withouth beeing to near the most touristic parts. Cleaned roomPwith new sheets every day, air condition (a bit noicy though), good but small breakfast at the nice roof terrace and helpfull staff. Priceworthy and location made the stay at Carmel...
