I just returned from a stay at the Residenza Paolo VI, and will never stay anywhere else in Rome. I gather from some of the reviews and photos that I was fortunate to have a deluxe room, which was comfortable, beautiful, quiet, and spotless. It had a marble floor, and a couple of lovely oriental rugs; damask drapes; and simple,... more

Do not be taken in by the great marketing for this hotel, pity it doesnt live up to it. Overpriced, rooms tiny, air conditioning poor, lift archaic, terrace tiny, appears on photos much better than it actually is. I suggest you look elsewhere unless you absolutely must be about 500yds from St Peters Square. Breakfast is OK. Staff helpfull more

I stayed at the Residenza Paolo VI for seven nights and had difficulty sleeping because of the cramped nature of everything in the room. The only plus was the full-size bed. When I was a seminarian in Rome, my room was three times as large! A previous reviewer must have had the same room as I because the photo did... more

Stayed here in mid-May in a 'twin room' accompanying an elderly 79 year old neighbour of mine whose long held wish was to see the Vatican and also Pope John Paul II's tomb. As this lady hasn't travelled since 1965 & has had a lot of illness recently, I chose the hotel on the basis that she would be able... more

I decided to plan a 3-day trip to Rome through the internet. Unfortunately, despite its great quiet location (especially when one wants to visit the Vatican), the hotel disappointed me mainly because in most websites Residenza Paolo VI is presented as a luxury premier hotel. As you can see from the picture - this is not what people would describe... more

If you are planning to visit the Vatican museums, Sistine Chapel and/or St. Peter's, you absolutely cannot stay any closer. The Paolo VI is literally across the street from the exit of Piazza San Pietro (St. Peter's Square). When we finished our exhausting and hot, but very worthwhile tour of the Vatican museums and Sistine Chapel, we literally walked out... more

If you want to stay near the Vatican and if you want to feel special, this is the place to stay. The staff is very helpful in everything from finding a restaurant to coaching on how to use the Metro and bus system. Little touches include delivering the daily Mass readings each morning and recognizing special feast days. Great full... more

I went through a travel agency for our 1 week trip to Italy this past April 2004. I tend to research the places to visit and places to stay prior to making any plans; and although there were few candid reviews about this hotel on any any website, I decided to go ahead with the booking. We are a family... more
